Travertijnstraat 12 (at (in the BackBone050 building)), Groningen, Netherlands,
Not a restaurant but rather a volunteer-run space at a community garden. The concept is to serve food for free by utilizing free resources and donations. The menu depends on available produce. Food is served at 6pm on Wednesdays. All welcome. Mostly vegan, but not everything. Food on Wed. only

Good for the price... - Edit
Well, the food is free of charge, so I can't really complain about the quality. It's pretty much what you'd expect a free meal to be like. Props to those who run this event every week, managing to find and cook food for no charge!
It was well attended, the six large tables were full and there was standing room only by the time we got there just after six.
Though the people managing things were friendly, it wasn't clear what was in many of the dishes, so we didn't know which ones were vegan (or maybe even vegetarian – I thought I saw a bowl of tuna mayonnaise there, though I could have been mistaken). Nothing was labelled, apart from one gluten-free option.
Perhaps the answer is to go earlier and help with the cooking, that way you'll know what's in everything!
Pros: No charge for the food, Lots of nice bread, Fresh fruit available
Cons: Bland taste, Confusion, Unlabelled

Feels like a holiday - Edit
I discovered the Free Café a couple months ago.
It's such a special place.
Every wednesday and sunday you can eat here for free.
They are cooking with food that otherwise was throwing away.
(from the market, bakery's etc.)
You can also help preparing the meals from 12.00 pm. A cooool way to meet nice people.
The food is always free, 98% vegan and delicious.
And the evenings are always special. Sometimes someone brings a guitar.
Pros: Delicious food, It's free!, It's against food waste
