4 vegetarian/vegan francesinhas! - Edit
4 diferent types of francesinhas, you have to ask for it to be vegan so they´ll put vegan cheese on it and no egg. They are all really good! Although they are a bit inconsistente and service can be slow on busy nights such as during the weekend.

Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals - Edit
This is a large, friendly and professional establishment which specialises in the big brother of the croque monsieur known as the Francesinha. A Porto delicacy. Quite a remarkable dish, loosely comparable to the Middlesborough Parmo, which has been duly veganised here. Or should that be spelt with a 'z'? I'm not sure. The meat free menu is extensive, offering no less than 6 mouth watering versions of the Francesinha with combinations of tofu, seitan, cured tofu and tempeh all drenched in the delicious house sauce. At only €8.50 each they are a bargain and you can wash them down with a large Super Bock and (here's the best bit) watch Champions League Football on the big screen at the back! Fantastic location too by the way, right in the heart of the Baixa. We had the curry seitan and the regular seitan Francesihnas served with a portion of fries to help mop up the sauce. The staff fully confirmed that all cheeses and sauces used are vegan and are proud of the fact that they get a lot of vegan customers coming through their doors.

tasty - Edit
I really liked this restaurant, it's traditional and smart inside but not pretentious and there was a good atmosphere when we visited. The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable and informative about the vegetarian options which were confirmed as fully vegan to us by 2 members of staff. The food was very good, I opted for the curry francesinha which included seitan, sausage and cheese, all of excellent quality. Very reasonable prices. I would definitely return.

Low quality food but gives you the chance to try a Francesinha if you are vegan! - Edit
As some of us are vegetarian, we wanted a chance to try the Portuguese specially the Francesinha and decided to try this restaurant. There was clearly no locals and it seems the place is just meant for tourist as there is also a fado experience available.
Read moreThe staff was absolutely lovely but the vegetarian Francesinha we had were very heavy and the bread wasn´t really nice.
Our father who tried other meat Francesinha in Porto mentioned that there was no comparaison. Quite a low quality meal but it's great to have the chance to try a vegan Francesinha! :)

Vege francescinhas - Edit
Touristy restaurant with vegetarian and vegan dishes. It's your chance to get a francescinhas. However I was with someone who had a regular one before and who said that the one he had here was quite bland compared to the other one.

very tasty experience - Edit
comparing with the traditional, for me the vegan one is better,. The menu says vegetarian but is strictly vegetarian, in other words vegan. The weird thing was having tomato inside the francesinha, if it was zuquini it would be better. the violife cheese, the mozarella one is amazing and the sauce was amazing too. the tempeh could be tastier but it was ok

Tasty - Edit
I had lunch in this restaurant last week and the staff was really friendly. They have a vegetarian menu which is labeled as 100% vegetarian. I had the tofu francesinha and double checked if it had vegan cheese and the waitress corfirmed and said that if we wanted the other cheese we had to ask, otherwise it was vegan.
Read moreIn the beggining of the meal we were offered the mushrooms with sauce as an entree which were really tasty and resembled traditional portuguese food.
The main dish (tofu francesinha) was tasty but I didn't felt like the flavour was to similar to the original francesinha which was good for me as I don't like tasting vegan food which has the same flavour as the animal product ones. For the francesinha I paid about 8 euros.
For dessert I had the wild fruit cheesecake which is also vegan and it was really well presented and tasty.

Super lecker Francesinha - Edit

Was definitely vegan - Edit
After seeing comments I triple asked and checked that they have vegan cheese. Was reassured by the manager that the cheese they use is coconut oil based. Menu has vegetarian section but the manager says everything on it is vegan unless customer asks otherwise. We had one francesinhas with tofu and one with seitan. Both were solid and I'd recommend either to get a taste of the francesinhas.

great place to try a dish only found in Porto - Edit
Has several all vegan Frencesinhas and they're labeled as such on the menu - tofu, seitan, and tempeh. I got the seitan and it was delicious. I think they use violife cheese but I did not ask.

Good for francesinhas but needs a lot of improvement - Edit
I went there with some friends wanting to taste the francesinhas, but only ater it was vegan certified by a new vegan porto group "aliança animal" since there were rumours that some of their "vegetarian cheese" was not vegan but animal and I went there before to ask the name of the brand and they "didn't have the package", and also didn't have most of the filling that was stated in the menu.
Read moreEVEN SO, I decided to give it a try.
The day I wen, they marketed in Facebook group the entree (mushrooms with sauce) would be an house offer, and when I got to the restaurant the staff said (we don't have that, note: the restaurant was empty).
We asked for francesinhas, the one I wanted was not available (no tempeh...) so I went with a Seitan Francesinha. The sauce was ok, the cheese is Violife, the filling was bad, seitan was really spongous and nothing seems to be grilled (like it should be). For the price it was a bad francesinha (and you have to ask seperately for french fries). The carnistic francesinhas on regular restaurants are far cheaper (even the french fries).
I was very disappointed.
They also didn't have more options that were advertised in the facebook groups moments before (only francesinhas).
In the end the owner said that the staff was "rude and lazy" because the ingredients for the mushrooms entree were in stock, at least she was honest, I am sorry for the staff. The waiter that speak to us at our table was also nice.
The place inside looks nice, it's big and dark (more medieval feeling, wall stone).
I felt this was a very negative experience, and felt ripped of, It would be ok if the price was 50% of what they actually ask for. I would give 2.5 stars but not 3.
EDIT: Went there again, this time they had smoked tofu (the tofu option is with smoked tofu).
Again, have to specify that we want vegetable cheese (vegan cheese violife). Everything was better comparing to the previous experience, altough my beer mug was not served properly correct.
Changed from 2 to 3.

Delicious Food & Great Service - Edit
Had a great experience at this place - the food was delicious, the drinks were tasty & the staff were awesome. I tried the tofu francesinha, with a side of fries and a red wine sangria, and I highly enjoyed all of it. They also gave me a free sample of port wine to try!

Not our cup of tea - Edit
The vegetarian menu is actually vegan as stated in the previous comments but this national dish wasn't tasty at all. It wasn't the fact that it was veganized but more that it was just mainly cheese, bread, fake meat and the sauce. It was nothing special and there was way too much fat. The service was great though!

Vegan-Friendly Junk Food Paradise - Edit
Decided to try out the Porto national food in this place. The service there was incredibly friendly. The lady told us that they were planning on broadening their vegan menu by adding some starters, salads and desserts to the menu in the near future - awesome!

Vegan Francesinha - Edit
It's great to be able to eat a Francesinha (a very non vegan dish) whenever I feel like it. Even the cheese on top is vegan!
Read moreThe restaurant itself has a very rustic feel to it and the back wall is full of typical sayings from Porto. The menu has a whole section of "vegetarian" options that are actually vegan. If they run out of vegan cheese, they will inform you.
Every time I went there the staff was always friendly and available for any questions I had related to the food. The only downside is that it is usually rather empty.
