Vegan pizza by the slice! - Edit
Great cafe and bakery with plenty of vegan options for snacks+meals, including vegan pizza by the slice, a rarity in SF. Soups are always vegan if you ask for olive oil on the bread.
Read moreBesides the excellent Green Dream sandwich, they can veganize several other sandwiches on request, like the Famous: order with veggies and no cheese (or their homemade vegan cheese). Also, this is not on the menu, but I love to custom order their portobello mushroom sandwich with the vegan cheese and add kale. It takes awhile for the vegan cheese to melt, so that one is for when you're not in a hurry.
Coffee's good, the owner and the bakers/baristas are super nice, and prices are very modest by Bay Area standards. Recommended.

Really delicious food. I got the avocado poppy seed bagel and cinnamon roll with a mushroom latte with oat milk and it was all super tasty. I don't know what they put on the avocado toast but it's amazing! The server was lovely and they have all gender restrooms.

Order the Green Dream from Fox and Lion - Edit
Often in the neighborhood and Fox and Lion is the perfect place to grab a cup of joe, a sandwich, a freshly baked baguette for your avocado toast, or a pizza to be heated for dinner later...whatever it is, everything is just so darn good. Highly recommend the Green Dream sandwich--marinated artichokes, sliced roasted potatoes, balsamic onions, avocado, and lettuce on a baguette slathered with green olive tapenade, mustard, and chili oil. Omnomnomz for days... Xan is such a presence that it's almost inevitable that Fox and Lion will be more than San Francisco's best kept secret and explode into the scene. You heard it here first. Bonus: check out their t-shirts. How cute are they?! Someone get me one, small please. =)
