Limited overpriced vegan options - Edit
Went for lunch (Penn Ave - DC location) on a Saturday with meat-eating work friends. Limited vegan options. I got a $15 seasonal salad which was tiny and I was hungry 30 min later. Waitress wasn’t friendly and had zero interest in pointing out which menu items are vegan. Mostly a few vegetarian items can be modified by removing cheese. Reminded me of a mediocre, overcrowded chain restaurant. I remember this place being very vegan friendly over 10 years ago. It’s gone seriously downhill and I would not return or recommend to other vegans.

Nope. - Edit
Update June 2023: went back again for a work event, pretty terrible. Vegetarians will have an ok time here but not great. Vegans will have a bad time. It is also extremely meat-forward. There are very very loud and proud about being a premium meat establishment.
Read moreI don't think this place should be on Happy Cow. They had one vegan entree and it was a head of poorly cooked cauliflower for $20 . No seasoning, limited sauce. Maybe the menu changed, idk.

Nothing vegan - Edit
I used to go here a lot as a vegetarian, I believe they have 4 dishes under the category “meatless.” These items are vegetarian, the only things vegan are maybe some vegetable side dishes and an impossible burger if you change the bun and get it w/o cheese. I feel they could make some delicious vegan dishes and have them be popular! If you’re vegan, I wouldn’t go here. Their chips/crisps are also fried in the same oil as meat products if you’re concerned about that. If you are vegetarian try the impossible meatloaf!

Good food but seriously limited options! - Edit
Basically, you can get the impossible burger and the one vegan side (green veg). Fries are vegan, too. They really need to give you the option to veganize more items on the menu. The Paloma cocktail is delicious. There is no vegan dessert, aside from sorbet 😢

Extremely limited - Edit
Despite the "meatless" part of the menu, almost nothing is vegan. What's worst, the menu doesn't include any labels to differentiate between vegetarian and vegan.
Read moreNot vegan are the Impossible meatloaf, roasted vegetables and avocado sandwich (even if you take out the cheese), meatless spaghetti squash Pomodoro.
We ended up having to order the impossible burger and cauliflower steak. The cauliflower steak was good, but it was just a big head of cauliflower seasoned for $18 😬. Next time our friends recommend going I'll be suggesting elsewhere.
Pros: Impossible burger
Cons: Expensive, Almost no vegan options

limited Vegan options but food is good! - Edit
Surprisingly with lots of meatless choices, they only have limited vegan options. Things have to be “made” vegan. Although staff is nice and knowledgeable, I wish they had things they were already vegan. They serve the impossible burger make sure you ask for the vegan bun.
Read morePros: Food is great , Service is excellent , Staff is knowledgeable about vegan things
Cons: No already vegan entree , Have to have trust it will be made vegan

Wish they had more options - Edit
Most of the vegetarian options have dairy somehow included which can’t be edited. Bums me out seeing a vegetarian section but 3/4 things include dairy.

VEGETARIAN options, NOT Vegan. - Edit
Tried the “Cauliflower steak” that was supposed to be served with a glaze & mushroom risotto. Server told me they can’t make the risotto vegan. Also couldn’t make the seasonal autumn veggie side vegan since its premixed with a honey glaze. I opted for a plain sweet potato.
Read moreHad a chance to talk to the manager about extending their vegan options (Why not make the risotto vegan? It’s easy!) and he told me in passing that even their “Impossible” meatloaf dish has cheese in it. He did say they’re looking into more vegan options but for now.. solid 3 star merely for the effort. They’re SO close, but not.
Pros: Server aware of what vegan options they had.
Cons: No real vegan dishes. Must modify.

great ... - Edit
... if you want "meaty" vegan options like the impossible burger or a really meaty tasting vegetable loaf thing. Not so great if you are looking for Whole Food vegan. Your non-vegan friends will be very happy too.

Down-Home Country Cooking - Edit
Founding Farmers (Montgomery County location) has nicely captured the farm-to-table experience. The flock of sculptural ducks that decorates the overhead space will make you feel as though you’ve been magically transported from the metro D.C. area to the peaceful Maryland countryside for an authentic, down-home meal.
Read moreAs soon as we were seated, our waiter described the restaurant’s farm-to-table concept and told us that all of the food on the menu is house made. Upon learning that we are vegan, he directed our attention to the Meatless section of the menu and also offered that some of the other selections could be made meat free upon request.
I opted for the Vegetable Mushroom Loaf, which is tasty and well presented. This dish definitely provides the “comfort food” feeling that we’d expect on a visit to the country. It's served with a side of broccolini, which adds a nice splash of color and a bit of toothsome crunchiness.
This restaurant is a particularly good place to visit if you are dining with friends who expect meat, as the menu has enough variety to make both of you happy.
Pros: Meatless section on the menu, Chef's willingness to modify dishes upon request., Farm-to-table emphasis

Limited Options, But Good Ones - Edit
While Founding Farmers doesn't have a lot of vegan options, I've had both the rice and bean tofu burger and the "Many Vegetable Loaf" (a meatless meatloaf-esque which they can make vegan if you ask them to) and they're very good. It's not my go-to for vegan food, but it's a safe bet for good (if not a little bit too expensive) food. It's also a popular choice among non-vegans which makes it a reliable, good option for a group outing.

Good food, but few options - Edit
The rice & bean burger with tofu was decent. No vegan menu any more though, so ask your server. He said the only vegan options were rice & bean burger and veggie loaf. Wish they had more options that were clearly marked.

Meatless Menu - Edit
Last night's dinner from Founding Fathers was sooooo good. I had the mushroom meuniere & risotto with a side of citrus asparagus and fried green tomatoes with an avocado dipping sauce as an appetizer. The mushrooms look like and had the texture of scallops. I actually stopped eating and had to question it at one point because I am vegan. I love that they have a meatless section on the menu. I like that if something was not vegan they were willing to make it vegan for me. Our waiter, Joseph, was very informative and knowledgeable about everything. He was great when explaining dishes and suggesting drinks. His suggestion of the Queens Park Swizzle as a drink was greatly appreciated. It was delicious. I've never had anything like it. My first time was quite an experience. I will be back.
Read morePros: Meatless section on menu, Will make vegan if dish is not completely vegan., Friendly waiters that go above and beyond the stan
Cons: Pricey but worth it
