Delicious vegan Asian food - Edit
Delicious food, I got takeout and it was piping hot even after a 20min walk home. Food was rich and hearty. Service was quick. Flavours were good if not a touch salty.

Superb casual dining - Edit
Great, cafe style restaurant. All the vegan dishes (which is the vast majority) are clearly marked. Good selection of plant based meat substitutes as well as tofu based meals. Very tasty indeed.

So good, I wish they were all vegan! - Edit
The food was delicious. Vegan items are clearly marked. I just wish it was all vegan! They have a nice frozen meats section that's worth a look as well!

Extremely quick service, loads of options - Edit
The location was a little bit out of the way for us (but the free CAT bus gets you close). It was worth the trip - absolutely loads to choose from on the menu and out order was served very quickly. Fresh and hot, with a good balance of veggies and tofu. The flavours were nothing extraordinary but it was a great feed and not oily.

Nice location food and service - Edit
Great venue and location. Good food and service. Easy to get to in East Perth plenty of parking nearby too. Service is friendly and fast. Food is tasty. We ordered the vegetarian smoked duck, dumplings which we didn't like too much, hit and sour soup which was great cashew chicken with cashews also very good and vegetables stir fry which was nice healthy with a nice subtle sauce.

Quick service and tasty food - Edit
The vegan options are clearly marked out on the menu and there are a lot of them. You are given a sheet of paper to write down your order and then you take it to the counter and pay. I changed my mind and had to cross out a couple of items. The options looked good. I chose salt and pepper tofu and a “chicken”hotpot with enoki mushrooms. I also had a passionfruit tea with sago balls. Everything came really quickly. The passionfruit tea was nice and refreshing. The salt and pepper tofu was nicely presented with a nice sauce and I liked the batter. The hotpot was my favourite. I loved the flavour of the hotpot and the vegetables were nice too. The “chicken” and the “tofu” were cooked really well and absorbed the flavour of the hotpot.

Authentic Vegan Chinese - Edit
Handy location for us, short stroll from The Westin, Perth.
Read moreWe enjoyed the rich flavours of the Mapo Tofu, along with the Crispy Chykin, spicy beans and steamed veggies.
The restaurant is quite large, was a tad noisy when we arrived, however quietened down after young kids with family left.
We both really enjoyed the dishes, reminded us of Gong De Lin in Swanston st, Melbourne, even the menu and numbers were similar.
Lots of mock meats to choose from, clean space, and reasonably priced for the size and flavour of the meals.
Pros: Tasty, delicious, and handy location, good portion sizes, reasonable price
Cons: no outside dining area

Vegetarian Asian Cuisine near ibis Styles at East Perth - Edit
Was staying at ibis Styles (East Perth) and this Chinese Vegetarian restaurant is within short walking distance. Very convenient.
Read moreFor tourists like me, this location still pretty easy to find even not staying nearby hotels, by bus and the CATs (free bus).
Popular, see quite lots of diners (Asian and Westerners) even on weekdays lunch & dinner timing.
Tried the Laska Curry Udon, Vegetarian Shark's Fin Soup with rice. Happy to see that they sell mock meat and seafood too. Just nice, for me to buy some for the retreat center I am going to.

They have a huge menu, the food comes out very quickly and the staff are lovely. I can also stock up on frozen mock meats. I booked a table by sending a text and they were very quick to confirm.

Super yummy food, I especially liked the sweet and sour chicken and the oyster mushroom hotpot (although that one was quite spicy so be warned!)

Bring your friends - Edit
It’s always a win to bring non-vegan friends to a place that doesn’t serve meat and watch their surprise to the deliciousness and choices on the menu. Lots of vegan adaptations of Asian regulars. Yum!

Great food, not super expensive - Edit
Formosa is a lovely, tucked away restaurant. Similar menu to what used to be at utopia Northbridge, and the food is just as good. About 60% of the menu is vegan, the rest is all vegetarian. Reasonably priced, partner and I had a main each, split one drink and one entree and it was under $45.

Formosa Fabulous! - Edit
The only restaurant I've ever reviewed where I haven't had second thoughts about giving 5/5 stars.
Read moreVisited with my non-veg mum yesterday evening. Ordered the tofu hotpot, black pepper "lamb", and salt and pepper tofu to share between us. Plus a bowl of rice each.
Was. NOT. Disappointed! A particular mention to the tofu claypot! I have no idea how they got the gravy to be as "meaty" as it was but honestly, the flavour reminded me of beef brisket. Also really enjoyed the thicker batter on the salt and pepper tofu. The black pepper lamb was the weakest dish of the three imo, but only in comparison to the other two. By itself, it was also excellent. I enjoyed the chewy texture of the mock lamb.
Some dishes are on the pricier side... The black pepper lamb cost $20.50. However, I thought it was a decent serving size for the price. Both my mom and I had trouble finishing it despite sharing it. Otherwise most dishes are quite good value for money, the noodle dishes especially.
Absolutely worth a visit imo, and I would definitely visit again for sure if in the area.
Pros: Lots of vegan options (clearly marked on the menu), Super quick service , Value for money

Obsessed with the Eggplant - Edit
Delicious food. Friendly staff. We had the hokkein noodles, lemon chicken, rice, crispy mushrooms and eggplant with chilli bean sauce. Loved it all (especially the eggplant). The kids have been asking already when we can go back again. Only downside is at around $20 per dish it can get a little pricey. The price of some dishes is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.
