Weird vibe, odd food - Edit
All of the food was off the charts spicy (even the things you wouldn’t expect to be), and none of the small tapas style plates complimented each other AT ALL. Overall the entire place felt a bit off and the ambiance and food were really random and inconsistent. Service was good though!

Amazing Small Plates - Edit
If you’re going to food for friends I would say to share a bunch of small plates with a friend. They have so many delicious vegan bites whereas the large plates are a bit limited for vegan options and those that are vegan seem quite basic. Don’t quote me on that though because I haven’t tried any of the big plates. They just seem not too special as you could get similar meals elsewhere.
Read moreTheir small plates however are super unique and delicious. Get the crispy marinated tofu! Best thing in my opinion. Could eat that all day.

Used to be very good; now so so - Edit
Have eaten here many times in the past 20 years - used to be one of the best in the UK; still good, but recently the food sometimes is a bit crap (over cooked chips anyone?) and the service has gone downhill.

Great dishes; bit distracted - Edit
Delicious food and interesting. The service wasn't great, though - they seemed a bit distracted. A couple of things we ordered and they didn't bring.

We had a fabulous lunch here, but made the mistake of sharing the sharing platter. It should've been called the non-sharing platter.

Lots of vegan choices - Edit
Went here for husbands’ birthday. All was good apart from my middle eastern salad which didn’t live up to expectations or the style and flavours of the other dishes.
Read moreHowever, free bubbly and truffles for my husbands’ birthday were a lovely surprise.
Prices are the same as the other top veggie restaurant in Brighton but unfortunately for taste and panache they don’t quite compete which makes them seem overpriced.

Stylish restaurant - Edit
If you want a gastronomic experience in Brighton probably this is your place. Quite expensive for the amount of food that you receive but everything was tasty and well presented. We reckon that all of the dishes had a "seafood/fishy" flavour which surprisingly was nice.

Special treat - Edit
Nice for a special occasion as it was very pricey for food and drinks. The food was of high quality and really nice flavours. Portions were better sized than expected (some pricey restaurants tend to serve small portions) and my friend and I didn’t need the side order of chips we ordered in fear of not being full! I think if you’re looking for a high end vegan restaurant maybe for an occasion or have the money to spend it is very nice but they are lots of other great vegan restaurants in Brighton too!

Good for a dinner outing. Nice food but slightly pricey and poncy for my student tastes. Good for a treat once in a while though

A Brighton Classic - Edit
I love this place and have visited countless times!
Read moreDelicious food and the menu changes seasonally. Have taken many non-veggie friends here who also love it.
It's vegetarian so not all food is vegan - would be good if they had more vegan choices.
It usually gets booked up quickly so not so good for a spontaneous meal out.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Hard to book , Would like more vegan options

Overpriced meal out. - Edit
Ate here on a recommendation from a local friend.
Read moreWe ordered the chickpea quarter and the potato croquettes to start, the middle eastern salad and the FFF burger (vegetarian) for mains, elderflower bubbly and Irish coffee to drink. They had ran out of the raw cashew dessert which was disappointing as the other vegan desserts didn’t sound appealing.
The starters were really nice, maybe a little on the small side. The salad was quite bland, a very big plate full which I didn’t finish as it was lacking in flavour.
I thought it was fairly overpriced, everything came to £56.43.
The food was well presented, the staff were nice, the service was good, the atmosphere was ok!
I wouldn’t rush to come here again.

Fabulous food - Edit
Have wanted to eat here for ages and it was really worth the wait. Attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. It’s always a treat to go somewhere that really understands vegan food. Most dishes were either fully vegan or could be made so with no loss flavour or substance. All four of us had something different from the menu and every dish was stunning. Not a particularly cheap place to eat but definitely worth the money.

Loved it - Edit
Went with friends for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. Their cocktails are delicious! We tried several starters and loved all of them then had a Main each. Waiters were very friendly. It's a nice place to sit and watch tourists go by as well. Went with a vegetarian and meat eater and they loved it.

Luscious Lunch - Edit
It was such a pleasure today to share a delicious vegan lunch with a meat eating friend who seemed to enjoy every bite. We had a crispy tofu starter that was very tasty, followed by a sweet potato and oyster mushroom katsu curry also delicious. Do book, as it was full on a thurs lunch time.

Most delicious vegan food - Edit
The food I had at Food For Friends is possibly the most delicious meal I have ever had. We had to wait a while to be seated so I recommend to book in advance, although it was most definitely worth the wait.
Read moreMy mother and I shared three starters (which was far too much but we managed it all) of Satay tempeh skewers, crispy tofu & hummus with bread. For main I had something that I cannot find on the online menu but it consisted of a lentil dahl, potatoes, and other various vegetables and sauces. The plate was full of different flavours of which each complimented each other (I've added photo above).
The staff were helpful and friendly and did not rush us at all.
I cannot wait to visit again.
Pros: Delicious food, Good vegan options
Cons: Limited seating

Book ahead - Edit
You generally need to book ahead as they get busy but we managed to get a table for a late Sunday lunch. They had run out of the vegan roast so I picked from the standard menu which was disappointing. However, the food was delicious and well presented. Pleasant atmosphere and good service (although they do add 12.5% 'optional' service charge to the bill as default).
