Lovely place with lovely food! I went for brunch with two friends and all the options looked so good so we got three dishes and split them. Delicious! Great variety in options also, as well as tasty drinks.

The tables are right next to the kitchen, which makes it interesting but also your clothes become smelly in no time. The amount of plastic used in the kitchen (all the vegetables come in small packages, they are not cut at the moment) is very high and to me this is not very consistent with the idea of organic, fresh and vegan food/restaurant. The food was mediocre, no big deal. Dessert didn't seem very fresh. Price expensive for the quality of the food. People are nice. Based on the enthusiastic reviews I read here, I expected it would have been a much nicer experience!

Located a little outside of the city centre of The Hague (“Den Haag” in proper Dutch) is Foam restaurant. The layout of the restaurant is unique in the sense that the kitchen is part of the main space. The chef is standing next to the tables preparing the food. Although Foam has plenty of tables plus outside seating, a reservation may be advisable when visiting during peak lunch or dinner time.
Read moreThe menu has a wide selection of food, with no particular theme or country cuisine. Foam doesn’t feature complicated dishes, unusual ingredients or out of the ordinary recipes. We went for the “foam bowl” (always good to chose a signature dish named after the restaurant) and the mushroom based ramen (Japanese style soup with noodles).
The foam bowl seems rather simple at first. It’s just salad with quinoa, but the combination of the ingredients and the flavor of the dressing makes special. The quinoa has a wonderful taste. Upon request the chef explained that it was cooked in orange juice and water, then later soaked in beet juice. Foam shows how a seemingly simple dish can be much more than the sum of its parts by skillful preparation!
The ramen has a genuine Japanese taste, rich and strong. It has a lot of mushroom and vegetables in it, making it an excellent and filling meal.
Oh, and don’t forget the sweets! You might almost miss them, but at the entrance in the front window is a collection of desserts. We had the “pinky pie” and “orange, blueberry chocolate” which were absolutely delightful.
In short: although deceivingly simple, Foam shows how skillful chefs can perfect every day vegan food.

My favourite place in The Hague - Edit
Soo happy this place is around the corner. The food is always amazing and the cakes are just the best cakes I ever had, no one makes it better (also not people who use butter). It’s a vegan lunch place you can go with anyone, also meat eaters, and they’ll all love it! Sometimes they also do take-away dinners called Foam-at-home, they’re amazing too!

FOAM has been a great inspiration food_wise with all the possibilities there are with vegan food, it is a great place to hang out (once it is allowed again) and they also do excellent take-out, most recently their vegan Tapas Box! Can’t wait for the next special! Do hope to hang out in their tiny garden again at some point!
