Lovely rescue centre

Came for the first time for their open day and was presently surprised that they were only serving vegetarian & vegan food.

Great ethical stand point and really respect them for that.

Very reasonable £5 for a vegan burger & chips.

Pros: Prices, Ethics

Wonderful Sanctuary

I took my daughter here for a day out and it was thoroughly enjoyable. There are so many rescued animals to see and they all seem so happy. Find pigs, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, hens, horses, ponies and of course cats and kittens. When we are able to adopt a cat we will definitely come here to find one.
There is no entrance fee but you may donate if you wish. The funds earned at their charity shop and tea room also go back into running the place. The tea room is very simple with basically just drinks (including vegan hot chocolate with vegan marshmallows and vegan cream!), Alpro strawberry milk and others. There are vegan cakes among the cake selection, ask for them as they are not labelled. I saw toasties as well, with vegan spread. There were no main meals on our visit.
Great place to spend a day seeing gorgeous animals, grab a drink & snack and spend a bit on their charity shop too. We found some great stuff there.

Pros: All the animals!, Visit is free/tea room and charity shop are cheap, Very child friendly

Cons: You cannot take all the cats home with you., Vegan cakes not labelled., Not all vegan.

Need To Bring Back 2016 Menu

I have to agree with the post below from 2022 having recently visited myself, this place appears to have gone backwards, there were no vegan sausage rolls or even vegan mayo...surprising to see somewhere with an admirable mission regress when the world around it has taken such great leaps forward in terms of veganism. The sanctuary itself is still good and worth a visit - but the tearoom needs a menu revamp and possibly some staff training. Would be great to see it go 100% vegan like The Retreat Vegan Sanctuary near Tenterden.

Almost nothing vegan

I think that the menu changed since the previous review. There were no vegan cakes and maybe one sandwich when we were there. Some vegan snacks thought and herbal tea selection. Overall not great.

Pros: Tea to warm up in cold weather

Cons: Very few vegan option

Plenty of vegan options

Friendly all vegetarian cafe within the grounds of an animal rescue centre serving a selection of sandwiches and rolls, vegan sausage rolls, vegan and non vegan cakes and biscuits. Tea, coffee and milkshakes can be served with vegan milk if you ask. Lovely little place where you can sit indoors or outside and play with the resident cats!

Worth visiting for their monthly 'rummage sales' for a bargain otherwise the charity shop and pet store are excellent.

Pros: Friendly, Vegan options, Good cause
