Bonne adresse pour manger des udons et des tempuras (la sauce est vegan) sur l'île de Miyajima.

I had the cold soba with vegetable tempura and it was very tasty! The staff was super friendly. It was the perfect place after visiting the highlights of Miyajima.

Delicious noodles and a great price - Edit
I visited with my family and ordered three different dishes. Curry udon, soba in hot kelp soup and seaweed udon in a soup.
Read moreThey all had a great taste at a very affordable price point. Personally thought the seaweed udon was the best, It was a simple yet delicious meal that filled me up. The broth was really well-flavoured and a great pairing with the chewy udon noodles.
I made sure to double-check about how they flavoured the broths, and the server confirmed that none of the vegetarian dishes are made with fish stock which was great to hear!

Yummy place with great fries - Edit
The udon noodles were good. I was surprised by the great edamame and fries. A good choice when in Miyajima. I have attached a picture of the veggie options that they offer (it’s at the back of their menu)

Superb tempura - Edit
I got the hot kelp soba and the tempura over rice. Both were very very good. I like the tempura so much that I ordered it again by itself.

Nice food but a weird smell? - Edit
I would have given this place the full 4 stars if it weren't for a really weird smell in the restaurant.
Read moreHaving said that, there was a one page vegetarian menu in English that specified which foods were not vegan.
I got curry udon and it was very nice. I don't think theres anywhere else on the island that has a clear English vegetarian menu so I'd definitely recommend this place, despite the smell
Pros: Clearly marked vegan options, Nice food with big portions
Cons: Strange smell

We’ve been here for a lunch stop and it was okay. The tempura was fresh and the udon noodle was yummy, too.

Ok Japanese food - Edit
They have a big menu for vegetarians but said they could make the tempura without egg. So ask for it if you go there!

Traditional Japanese food with vegan options - Edit
Nice restaurant near the beginning of the main shopping street on the island. Look for the painting of a deer out front (shown in pictures)
Read moreWe found this to seem quite special and traditional, with a style that most restaurants with vegan options don't have as they are generally quite modern. It was nice to take out shoes off and sit down for some Udom noodles.
We had the curry Udon and the cold udon with dipping sauce, along with some umeshu and sake to drink.
Everything was delicious and unique, especially the curry Udon which I highly recommend. The cold udon was delicious but not the most flavourful, especially alongside the curry Udon, but I still think worthy of a try for something different.
Menu states that all tempura is not vegan due to egg, so vegans avoid this.

Fantastic noodle soup - Edit
You’ll need the Japanese name because there’s no English sign. On a busy shopping street not far from the pier. The hot kelp soba noodle soup was delicious and just what I needed after 20km of trail running.

Average vegetable curry - Edit
I wish they would put as much effort into the veggie/vegan options as they do with the non-vegetarian ones. Perhaps some of the other vegetarian/vegan options are better but don’t expect too much from the curry

Nice food, cheap and close to the main shrine. Only had a few vegan options. Menu was easy to understand. Had to look for the Japanese name. English name isn't clearly seen on any signage.

Really enjoyable meal! - Edit
Whilst this is a pricier option compared to the street food vendors that line the shopping district here the food is worth dropping in for. It’s the usual Japanese dining affair, but the menu is setup easily for English speaking tourists. The back page has the vegetarian menu, and with in that a vegan should be ok.

Great traditional Japanese experience - Edit
Tried this place on the basis of the review by Shantiny. It was great - very tasty food, separate veg/vegan menu and vegan options clearly marked. Loved the traditional setting with low tables and seating on cushions (although they did have some tables and chair style seating as well).

Good and affordable! - Edit
Even with being close to all the turistic spots in Miyajima, this place still offers very good food for a very good price. I ate a great vegetarian curry and my non-vegetarian boyfriend was able to eat whatever he wanted. Also the restaurant is cute and typical, a great Japanese experience with also lovely service! :)
