Nice location, friendly staff - Edit
Popular place. One clearly labelled vegan main and a number of vegan sides. Staff were very friendly. Lovely vegan salad dressing. Bread for soup was gluten free which suggests a little bit of confusion/uncertainty about diets.

Nice - Edit
The soup and bread was vegan and delicious, the vegan bagel is also gluten free (which they don't warn you about) and dissolves like sawdust in your mouth. There are plenty of standard supermarket bagels that are vegan so not sure why they can't just use them.

Vegan options, beautiful view - Edit
Had the best choc orange vegan brownie ever while watching a grey seal. Popular cafe with locals and tourists alike. Vegan options clearly marked, vegetable broth was great as was the quesadilla

Very friendly and some great vegan options - Edit
I have been here quite a few times as a 'pescatarian' and the food and service has always been excellent. Although mainly meat, fish and vegetarian, this cafe/restaurant goes out of it's way to accommodate vegans and the staff and management are extremely helpful and friendly. The location is superb, and if you're lucky you can view seals, orcas (probably not at the same time) and a non-vegan sea otter having lunch on the rocks. They always have at least one vegan option for starters, mains and dessert. Their vegan ice cream with in-house shortbread was delicious and if i recall correctly they have more than one non-dairy milk for coffees.

Cons: Could have more vegan bread options., You might need to book, although not really a con

Lovely place to chill with the best soya cappucino in Lerwick - Edit
This was a real find for me when I visited Shetland this month. Very friendly with a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the best soya cappuccino I had ever tasted, with a view to the bay watching seals and a pair of oyster catchers. Also had dinner here one night with a fellow vegan and it was fab. Cannelloni with awesome chunky chips. One of many perfect reasons to go back to Shetland Islands yet again!

Good vegan lunch option in Lerwick - Edit
While I find it fairly easy to get vegan food at restaurants and cafés on Shetland when you give them advance notice, Fjara Café is different as it offers vegan lunch options every day and no advance notice is necessary. This made it an ideal stop-over for lunch for us during our trip on Shetland. We went there three times and they always offered at least one vegan soup, a vegan salad and a vegan sandwich. Everything was tasty and filling, service was friendly and once they realized we were vegans, they told us that they also offer vegan cake (although it's not on display).

Not entirely vegan but a pleasant cafe nonetheless - Edit
Lovely café with fantastic views over the bay in Lerwick. Although there are a lot of meat dishes on the menu, there are a couple of vegan options available and they say they source local and seasonal produce. It's the best option for vegans in Lerwick at present (2017).

Cons: Only a couple of vegan options available
