Many vegan options

Vegan food are clearly marked in the menu, and owner and staff are very nice. Food is good (!) and it’s worth a visit, but I did expect more after seeing all amazing reviews.

Very delicious

I went there with two friends in the evening. I shared two different meals with one of my friends and they were super tasty. We even got some Mangolassi because one dish was too spicy for my friend😄

Tucked away little gem

Such delicious food and kind service. I had the Zanzibar mix and my partner had the “I’m starving combo” both were absolutely fantastic and we really enjoyed our meals, the mango pickles were especially delicious. On a small note though, my partner is allergic to peanuts, no mention of peanuts was made on the menu, and just to be sure we even asked if there was. We were assured that there wouldn’t be any peanuts in our curries (despite the fact that many of the dishes do actually contain loads of peanuts) but unfortunately my dish was full of peanuts. I believe it was a miscommunication of some sort hence why I’m still giving 5 stars. Just wanted to put our experience out there so that any with allergies can know

Pros: Kind service, Good variety, Rich flavour

Cons: Not all ingredients always listed

Quick, good and safe choice

The place is a bit hidden in an empty hall but has very nice Indian options and very friendly staff. They bring the food very quickly, it's well spiced and reasonable priced. Its a safe choice.

Pros: Muchas opciones veganas, Limpio, Barato

Soooooo good!

Lots of menu items can be made vegan and the food is really tasty and freshly prepared. Very nice owner too. The food is pretty carb heavy but so good!

Great food and variety, very hidden away

Tucked away in a dark hallway, but once you’re inside and see the menu, your mouth starts watering!

Pros: Delicious, Affordable, Menu and signing very well designed

Cons: Hidden at the end of a dark edgy hallway, Deserves a much more prominent location!

Must visit! Lots of great vegan options, low prices.

Five Chutneys is a must visit. We went twice, once for takeaway, once for dine in. Really tasty food, quick service. We had a bhel puri twice, chhole bhaturey and pav bhaji, and a not so hungry twice. Different curry options both times. Definitely recommend!

High Five Chutney

Tucked away inside what looks like an office building is Five Chutneys. A cozy Indian street food spot I know all vegetarian/vegan foodies will enjoy.
If you love Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Sev Puri, Samosa, Samosa chaat, Aloo Tikki, Aloo Chaat, Paratha, or Chloe Bhature then this is the spot for you.
Five Chutneys offer the Indian street food experience in Africa. I was very impressed by the taste and authenticity of each dish. Having had street food in India, I had high expectations when I ordered. I expected the dishes to be somewhat African influenced since it is in Arusha, however to my surprise the owner and his wife kept every dish true to Indian street food standards. I am a big fan of Samosa Chaat and theirs was delicious. I asked them to leave the yogurt off #ThatsNotVegan and simply added coconut cream instead which was tasty. (Coconut cream sold separately!) The stuffed paratha were a hit and the uttapam had so much flavor.
The owner is so accommodating and his wife is an amazing chef. I was even able to buy some black salt and hing from them.
The next time you are in Arusha, Tanzania you should definitely stop by Five Chutneys.

Great local option

All vegetarian but definitely not vegan like the website says. Be sure to ask as there is egg, honey, and cream in multiple things!

Pros: Delicious, Inexpensive, Nice service

Cons: Small location , Not all vegan and not always obvious!

Spicy vegetarian food

It was a delight to find a vegetarian restaurant while traveling through Arusha (located inside the mall). The owners were very nice and let us know which options were vegan or could be made vegan. The food was quite spicy, especially a few of the chutneys. Two of us shared the samosas and Thali dish which was the perfect amount for two females.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Spicy, Inexpensive

Cons: Spicy, Cash only
