Disappointed

Very poor choice considering it's a chain restaurant. Nothing on the carvery was vegan. Very uninventive choices on the main menu (beyond burger, salads and a root veg pie). I order the root vegetable pie and was offered mash but the staff couldn't tell me if it was vegan so I got chips. It was served with a teaspoon of peas, raw carrots and watery gravy. Weirdly, the pie filling was tomato based which is a strange pairing with gravy in my opinion. All very bland. There were three vegan dessert choices - Bakewell tart with vegan vanilla ice cream, chocolate torte with vegan vanilla ice cream or vegan vanilla ice cream (so two choices really!) and they didn't have the Bakewell tart so... There are about twenty choices of dairy ice cream and countless cakes and sweet treats for non vegans. Would have loved a sorbet or something fruity but had to opt for the chocolate torte. My party waited about 20 minutes for dessert before we realised they'd forgotten about us and we had to go and ask again, after which it was brought out fairly quickly. The torte was absolutely tiny compared to the desserts order by non vegans in my group. It was ok but not worth the wait. Chain restaurants need to be doing better than this to be inclusive! Doubtful I'll visit again unless the menu gets a refresh and the staff some training!
