Favorite Farmer's Market

This is without a doubt the best farmer's market I've been to. Love the casual vibe, performances, fresh produce and vegan ice cream among other things.

Has it all

Such a cozy little farmers market with many vegan options. The vendors are all so friendly and display samples.

Pros: lots of vegan options, mostly all organic

Cons: a little pricey

“Best Farmer’s Market in California!”

The Farmer's Market in Ojai, CA is always an exciting Smorgasbord of the very best organic, pesticide-free and sometimes conventional fruits and vegetables available in Ventura County. We frequently travel throughout California for business and I always make sure to visit as many Farmer's Markets as I can during our travels. Over the past 15 years, I have found only one other Farmer's Market that can hold a candle to this one in Ojai.
As you stroll through the Ojai Farmer’s Market, every week there seems to be a new vendor or two amongst the regulars that also offer alternative products. And of course, the occasional "sweet treat" or "quick and healthier" meal and snack food vendors are always there too.
Last Sunday it was nice to see "Vegan Mario" from his restaurant in Oak View. We quickly took advantage of this opportunity to treat ourselves to lunch at his kiosk. We had some of his gluten-free vegan pizza. A very good choice. One thing I've noticed about Mario's products is that it always seems to have a sort of “something special" quality to it. I love that about him. It tells me that he really cares. I hope Mario will continue to attend the Ojai Farmer's Market. Come and join us every Sunday from 9am til 1pm. See you there!

Pros: Excellent Organic Produce , “Really Great” Mix of Vendors , Truly Relaxing, Enjoyable Experience

Cons: I wish the hours were longer! , Parking is difficult at times , So much to buy, need shopping carts!

Nice little farmers market

I am one of the certified organic vendors at the farmers market in ojai. It is a pleasant little market and people come from miles around to buy produce and gifts, or just have a nice Sunday stroll through a market and check our the humanity as well as the tangerines. The market has a good selection of produce, both organic and conventional. Local artists also show their work on an occasional basis.

Pros: variety, lots of organic, lots of local

Ojai Certified Farmers Market

We've been attending the Ojai Certified Farmers Market for the last 4 years although we lived in northern California until just recently. The Market is a magical experience for us.

Each time Robin and I drove down to Ojai to visit with our friends, Lol and Linda, we would spend some time at the Farmers Market. It was a great way to relax before before making the 7-hour drive back to Placer County. Just before leaving the Market, we would buy some of Vicki's hand-made soaps to take home with us. Their wonderful fragrance filled our home and reminded us of Ojai and the Farmers Market. Now that we live here, we continue to enjoy Vicki's soaps. Thank goodness we don't have to drive 400 miles one way to be able to buy them!

The Market Manager, Cynthia Korman, is busy from the time the vendors set up Sunday morning until they take down in the early afternoon. If the market were compared to a restaurant, Cynthia would literally be the hostess, the waiter, the server and the chef all rolled into one. It was difficult to catch up with her but I was finally successful.

Cynthia told me she has been with the Market since its conception in 1991. They average 50 vendors on any given Sunday and see hundreds of people flow through the Market buying fresh organic produce, baked good, cheese, local honey, pies, tamales and other prepared foods/goods.

What vendors are vegetarian friendly? Almost all! Some of my favorites are The Farmer and The Cook, Earthtrine Farm, McGrath Family Farm, Friend's Ranch, Churchill Orchard, Ojai Olive Oil and the Knead Baking Company. I must also mention the tamale vendor, Gourmet Tamales - Me Gusta, who offers vegetarian tamales. Can't get better than that!

Go to the Market. The people are friendly and the food is good! Cynthia does an excellent job making sure it is a pleasurable experience for everyone. It is open every Sunday (rain or shine) from 9:00AM to 1:00PM at 300 E. Matilija St. (behind the Arcade).
