Vegan Tapa Style

Loved the unique dishes that went from small to large appetizer to share. Had the grilled tofu and lentil dish as well as the soft pretzel and noodle dishes.

Pros: Variety of food

Cons: Restaurant is closing in October

A modern upscale take on vegan tapas

Everything about our time at Fancy Radish was delightful, from the staff to the drinks to the food. The plates are small and intended to be shared - two of us split 4 items 1 dessert and left quite full & satisfied.

Drinks were delicious and generously strong. Food was prepared perfectly, and I really appreciated the fact that they were able to showcase amazing vegan dishes without any reliance on overly processed imitation meat ingredients.

While it's a little bit on the pricier side, it is well worth it.

Clean, seasonal ingredients with pops of spice

In town for the weekend to visit fam, and the cousin found Fancy Radish just a short 6 min ride/15 min walk from Union Station.

The one-page menu is inspired by a mix of Latin American and Asian flavors, e.g., grilled corn salad with gojuchang mayo. The dishes use a lot of fresh, seasonal ingredients and keeps it interesting with pops of spice. Here’s a full meal breakdown:

- Rutabaga fondue
- Grilled corn salad
- Grilled avocado (group favorite)
- Miso butter noodles
- Spicy dan dan noodles
- Chermoula grilled tofu

One of the best vegan restaurants in DC. Unfortunately, they are closing (on 9/23). The staff were informed just three days prior. What a shame, as the staff was just lovely; you really couldn’t ask for better. And the food was fantastic. I hope Fancy Radish gets a second chance. It deserves it.

Fantastic! Creative! Innovative!

All vegan, high end dining. Rutabaga fondue, fancy radishes, chermoula grilled
tofu, grilled avocado - all excellent. Desserts, especially the panna cotta were also amazing. Closing for good on October 14, 2023. Visit before then.

Pros: Rutabaga fondue , Fancy radishes, Panna cotta

Cons: Closing forever on 10/14/23

Upscale Vegan Food

Predominantly small sharing plates, which we took advantage of for our group by ordering one of everything to try. We enjoyed several of the options - our favorites included the rutabaga fondue served with a yummy pretzel roll and pickled veggies, heirloom BLT toast, and the grilled avocado. We were a bit disappointed with the pastrami carrot salad because it did not have a pastrami taste as promised in the name. The spicy dan dan noodles were super spicy but other than that, lacked flavor. We did sample all of the desserts and of course, all were delicious!!

Pros: Great service, Food presentation was beautiful, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Some dishes lacked flavor

Delicious!

Great food, good service, good ambiance. They say 2-3 duets per person. We got 4 total plus dessert which was totally fine
Potatoes - good but not necessary
Fondue - delicious
Dan Dan noodles - delicious, good portion size
Avocado - very good
Sticky toffee - excellent

Great food and excellent servce

Honestly, the service is the best part. The food is very good, thought the small plates are better than the mains. You cannot leave without trying the fondue!

Fancy small plates

Small plates, sharing style. We were advised that it takes about 2-3 plates per person to feel full, and I found this to be accurate. Among the 3 of us, we ordered 9 plates, including desserts, with the goal of feeling stuffed. It worked. We tried nearly everything on the menu, and our favorite savory items were the Peruvian Potatoes and Spicy Dan Dan Noodles. The sauce on the potatoes with Aji Amarillo was the perfect amount of spicy. It was amazing. On the other hand, the spicy Dan Dan Noodles weren't all that spicy, but the flavors were certainly delicious, and they were still my preference over the Miso Butter Noodles.

My favorite dessert (or maybe tied for first place) was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was more of a bread pudding, but much better than a typical bread pudding. Not overly sweet, not soggy or too soft. It was a high-quality cinnamon tasting bread with wonderful banoffee ice cream. The other must try dessert was the Chocolate Bar. I'm not even a chocolate dessert person, but I've never had a dessert quite like this, with caramel pecans and lavender ice cream. I'd easily order it again. The Panna Cotta and Cheesecake were very average, and I don't recommend them.

Service was too good to be true. Marcus helped our table out, and we also recommended each other slightly obscure hip hop artists and talked for a long time. Genuinely a very friendly person! Service this good is rare to find when you're one of the later tables toward the end of a night. I see why Fancy Radish is top rated in DC.

Get Peruvian Potatoes. It was the best due to the sauce. I said we ordered 9 dishes, but secretly, we ordered a 10th dish, which was a second order of Peruvian Potatoes to go 😅 Chocolate Bar for Dessert! Especially with that lavender ice cream

Special fancy experience

1st tip - make reservations way in advance
2nd - arrive during happy hour
3rd - be prepared to spend a pretty penny. You will need to order multiple items.. but this this is a special experience.

We had the chickpea fritters, Chermoula grilled tofu, spicy Dan Dan noodles, sticky toffee pudding. Everything was flavorful and staff was friendly.

Pros: A special experience and everything is vegan!, Food is good

Cons: Pricey

Delicious! Would come back, some food was too salty

We tried the fancy radishes, rutabaga fondue, shaved brussel sprouts, spicy dan dan noodles, and apple cinnamon tart. The fancy radishes were fantastic—loved the innovative twist with nori and tamari. I loved the fondue but my partner (a non-vegan) wasn’t as much of a fan, although he did love the pretzel bread (he thought it had too much salt though). We both thought the picked vegetables with the fondue were amazing. The shaved brussel sprouts were a bit rich for us and very salty, half a portion size or a dish with a different flavor palate would’ve been better, especially since we also got the fondue, which was very rich in flavor. The dan dan noodles had a nice kick to them but they weren’t really authentic Chinese dan dan noodles. Still good if you consider them their own thing. Finally, the apple cinnamon tart was tasty but nothing to write home about, I think.

Pros: Great variety, Good ambiance, Innovative

Cons: Some dishes were too salty

Delicious cuisine

Enjoyed a wonderful Birth Day dinner here with my husband. Many gluten free options. The waiter even wrote directly on my menu what was and wasn't gf and what the substitutions were.

We tried the radishes, fondue, cabbage and both noodle dishes as well as the butternut squash pudding.

The only dish we weren't crazy about was the spicy dandan noodles.

Excellent service, tasty well plated cuisine - an overall amazing experience. Can't wait to come back!

Portions very reasonable for the price and quality of the food.

Everything I pictured

This place lives up to the hype. They recommend ordering 2-3 plates per person because the portions are quite small. We did 4 plates total for 2 people and I honestly feel that was way too much food. I guess it depends on what plates you order but I would recommend ordering only a couple at a time and then adding onto your order as the meal progresses. Everything is so rich and decadent it became difficult to eat off the same plate multiple fork loads in a row. Sounds goofy, but make sure you have at least two plates in front of you so you can switch back and forth without overloading your palate.

Vegan fine dining

Loved my experience here. It was hard to decide between the delicious options, I ended up having the beet fondue which was really satisfying, and followed it up with some of the best Dan Dan noodles I've had.

Pros: 100% vegan, Delicious and seasonally adjusted options , Creative drinks

Cons: Pricy, expect to eat 2-3 dishes per person
