Come And Get Your Fil

Cheap, hearty, and authentic: this trifecta is the holy grail when it comes to takeaways. Knowing that this particular chain was one of those that consistently meets this rarefied brief, and having been woefully remiss in terms of reordering from them, I was jubilant to uncover this particular branch when I finally deigned to end my unintentional, and frankly ludicrous, hiatus.
Resolute to make the most of this occasion, I decided that I was going to really dig deep into the menu and sample a wider variety of their wares than I usually might. Naturally, the perennial staples such as the ever-reliable falafel sandwich and its equally dependable counterpart, the sautéed tomatoes tossed in garlic & chilli, would be present (and they were all as splendid as I remembered), but I earnestly hoped to add a new favourite to the repertoire – a feat I gleefully managed to achieve.
What bold and dynamic choice did I make to accomplish this goal, I hear you cry? Well, I change the bread, of course. Due to a finite amount of suitable filling combinations, this was the only course of action, but it made a huge difference. Swapping the kmaj for the nutty, sesame-encrusted kaak worked wonders, especially with the fava foul and the mixed fried vegetables. Also, being slightly more substantial than their pita peers, these sub-esque rolls really provided excellent value for money.
Once more this was evidence, if evidence were needed, that sometimes simple is best. Through the use of basic ingredients, this place manages to produce exemplary dishes that satisfy the soul and the wallet.
