Werk It, Baby!

Did I technically need to eat here? Not at all. Would I have regretted it if I hadn’t? Absolutely. This diminutive, almost unassuming, spot practically screamed out to me as a place where I would find quality, sizeable fayre for a relative pittance, and so it proved.
With a simple menu consisting primarily of wraps, it wasn’t too much of an effort to decide what the general premise of my eating experience would be, but the arduous task came in deciding what to fill them with. Having taken far longer than I (or evidently the server) would like to have to make my choice, I blinded opted for two options that I had no real idea what they were.
The first of these was the makkali. I now know this is a general term for fried food, usually vegetables. The second was the Urugi. Now, from what I can discern, this a name all of their own making, but essentially were was a form of vegetable pakoras/fried vegetable patties. Ultimately, though, the names were irrelevant, what really mattered was the taste: they were both incredible. Each of them was crammed full of their respective ingredients, and though they were sizeable sandwiches, they had a freshness and a lightness to them that was unexpected and made them all the more impressive.
My only teeny, tiny quibble would be with the spiciness of the sauce. Perhaps it was muted to cater for the predominantly Western clientele that they serve, but a bit more heat could have taken these gorgeous creations to another level.
Easily missed among the sea of its more flamboyant neighbours, this place deserves your attention. Ignore the bright lights - seek it out.
