Good for vegetarians, not for vegans. - Edit
This is a large café/bio-store, which is self service and has microwaves so customers can heat up wraps etc. But whilst the bright, comfortable, large seating area is welcoming, and the staff are friendly, the focus is on organic and sustainably-sourced ingredients, not on vegetarian or veganism. All vegetarian items are marked bz a green square, and luckily all products have a list of ingredients in French, Flemish and English, so that vegans and those with allergies can check what they can eat. During my visit, which was at 10 in the morning, I found nothing vegan except a few overpriced small pre-packaged salads and some dark chocolate bars – perhaps lunchtime is better because the other Exki in Brussels has at least one vegan main option. Vegetarians can choose from salads, wraps and a large selection of cakes and pastries. Oh and one sneaky tip – wifi is free for 30 minutes, but you can just disconnect and reconnect if you want to stay longer.

disappointing - Edit
don’t bother to come here for breakfast, they have nothing, unless you want to eat a salad in the morning.

The soup - Edit
The soup is by far the best part of Exki. For a city that is often cold and rainy, a staple soup place is a necessity and Exki delivers (not literally). They always have a great selection of vegan soups and offer you bread or corn crackers (GF) for a really good price. I've tried other things there but always went back to the soup.

My FAVORITE grab & go spot - Edit
This place was just around the corner from my hotel and I loved their food. They label everything so you can see what items are vegan. I ate at Exki in Brussels (where I found it), Amsterdam and Paris (airport). This place was such a game changer to find on my trip because I could quickly buy a sandwhich and keep it for later in the day in my bag just in case I couldn’t find anything vegan later when I got hungry. All the food I had tasted amazing and I tried multiple items throughout my trip. Their sandwiches were my favorite and I loved their chia pudding. I wish they would open up spots in America because I genuinely really liked their food.

Tasty! - Edit
Good falafel for cheap prices, tahini sauce is vegan and had meat options too. Don’t take visa or MasterCard though.

OK when there's no option - Edit
Had a salad there. Was OK but not anything special. Sandwich is really expensive and has little filling. Clearly marked vegan but in many locations so a safe bet for vegan food.

Interesting selection - Edit
I always get so excited when I come across vegan places where I can purchase dishes like this. I was really happy and managed to find a salad with lots of interesting ingredients, gluten free. Sadly when I was back in my hotel room to eat it, it tasted so horrible that I could not complete it. I tried several times. The reason I love vegan restaurants so much is that I trust that professional cooks are better with spices and tastes than little old me, but this was just not the case. The next day I bought something else, glass noodle spring rolls. These were not particularly good either. So I just don't know. I will still probably persist and go back the next time I'm in Brussels, but for now, 2 times disappointed in flavor. Cool place though.
Read morePros: Great selection if early enough, Gluten free clearly marked, Vegan or vegetarian clearly marked
Cons: The 2 things I tried didn't actually taste good

Small amount of vegan options - Edit
A chain that you can find easily in the city but with limited vegan options. A few salads/sandwiches but found the food quite bland. No sweet options.

Easy and variated options - Edit
A good option if visiting the city. All food is clearly labeled and you can find different vegan options: A lot of salads and other dishes but a very limited dessert variety (no cakes, only vegan yoghurt with berries).

Great water hole - Edit
Some time to kill before going to airport. A lot of places closed (2nd Jan) but found this place open and warm. We had quinoa and lentil dishes. All gluten free and mostly organic. Loved it. A friendly and healthy place with options to suit us

Great veggie and vegan options but too much plastic! - Edit
Huge selection with a few for vegans. Only breaky for vegans I saw were three small Bircher muesli although really tasty. Great selection of cakes, drinks, soups and sandwich options. I will be coming again for dinner! A go-to in Brussels which is dominated by mussels, beef and chips!

A massive help in meaty Brussels - Edit
This chain was a bit of a life-saver in Brussels, where they delight in all things meaty (even the fries are done using beef fat!!). Some of the food was only okay, but they offer oat milk if you ask, and everything is clearly labelled. There are usually quite a few vegan lunch options although all the cakes and pastries I saw were not vegan.

Gabriel sandwich - Edit
Pretty much the only thing I would buy here is a sandwich to go. It is so amazing and tasty, made of lentils and funnel seeds pate. I love the combination and if you get there after 5pm you get it with a discount.
Read moreOther things I tried are soups with coconut milk and veggie soups. They were also good.
A few salads I tried are also fine, but a bit expensive if you are hungry for a meal.

Just ok - Edit
I went there for lunch and had just two vegan options to choose from. The third was not available. The taste was ok, but nothing special. I'd to heat up my meal by myself in the microwave … for the whole experience the price was quite expensive :/

some vegan options - Edit
Exki used to be terrible for vegans but nowadays its getting much better. It is still more a green-ish fast food than a restaurant, though. This one is really crowded on lunch time.

Too pricy for what it's worth - Edit
If you read the ingredients clearly there is even sugar in the salad. There is almost nothing for vegans. I think the concept is beautiful, but healthy food is misused to ask too much money for a small dish.

Pretty good - Edit
I used to eat there quite frequently before going vegan. It is a great place to grab a coffee and a snack or a piece of cake ( for non veg), there are few options for vegetarian and i've only come across one dish for vegans which was the tofu-carrot salad and also fruits but nothing else really a part from the drinks.
Read moreFor a parent dependent person it is quite pricy considering that nearby you can get vegan fries ( either Mcdonalds or quick) for cheap. But Ekxi is better if you care about your health/weight.
The staff does change but they all are friendly.
One thing that does annoy me is that you have to pay extra if you want to eat inside.
Pros: good fruits, wi-fi
Cons: not enough vegan options
