What a fantastic dining experience! The vegan cuisine was authentic and utterly delicious. This was my first visit, but I'll definitely be returning. My order consisted of scrambled tofu, biscuits, portobello mushroom gravy, and two breakfast burritos - one with tofu scramble and the other with soyrizo.

The grilled cheese and tomato bisque was delicious and full of flavor. I love pesto and the pesto here was tasty. I tried the Mac n’ cheese and it was just okay, nothing spectacular about it. Surprisingly, I loved the carrot cake. Nice chunks of carrots and walnuts. The first one the cake had a slight lemony flavor to it, but it wasn’t too much.

I ordered the Bagel & Lox and my daughter got the Belgian Waffle with maple butter and berry compote. Close by to Findlay Market. I’m not from the area, we walked from our hotel (21C) to Essen because it was only a 25min walk. TBH there were a handful of blocks where I was feeling my anxiety spike as I walked there with my 9yo daughter. Next time I would order ahead online and take an Uber. There are 2 picnic tables outside but nothing inside. They are just a kitchen. Super friendly staff and really delicious food. Would love to order the whole menu!

I had my first Skyline chili in a long time here, and I loved it. I appreciate that the protein was a mix of lentils and Beyond Beef, instead of just one or the other. The staff was extremely friendly. I look forward to coming back and trying more from their menu.

Super delicious food! As a non-vegan I absolutely love Biscuits and Gravy so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try! It was DELICIOUS! The mushroom gravy was sublime and the biscuits were flaky and moist. The tofu scramble I got on the side was excellent, as well! Definitely worth a visit if you’ve never been here.

We got food from Essen Kitchen in January and it was good. It was a cold day but the food was hot and ready when we arrived to pick it up. I really wanted to try the Philly Cheesesteak and the Cincinnati style chili but unfortunately they were out of both that day. We got some biscuits and gravy with the tofu scramble and added a side of roasted potatoes. We also got an order of the classic mac topped with shiitake bacon and the vegan parm which we loved. Lastly we tried the snicker bar and a homemade cookie. The biscuits and gravy was decent but our favorite dish was the classic mac. Would get food from here again.

Have gotten to-go orders several times in the past 3 months, trying a variety of items, and everything has been great. I also like to order from Essen and eat "in" at The Orbit Room next door. Great when you want to grab dinner and get a table seat to stay and listen to live music on the weekends.

This small, nondescript, vegan restaurant reminds me of the unrecognizable but superb restaurant in cities like NYC. It may not look like much on the outside (or inside) but don't let that fool you. The food is savory, flavorful, filling (portions are great) and best of all it's all vegan. The icing on this vegan cake is the professionalism and friendliness of their employees. Quick, efficient, courteous and extremely helpful (wait a minute, did we teleport back to NYC). 5 stars indeed. Bravo and keep doing what you do!

I highly recommend this place. Food is exceptional, good portion sizes and priced well compared to most vegan restaurants. My favorites are the biscuits and gravy and beans and greens! I live just outside of the city but make a point of stopping by at least once a month and take home a meal for my family. I love that they are committed to using compostable packaging. People there a super kind as well.
