Hidden gem

This place changed my opinion on jackfruit, normally I am not a fan but the jackfruit curry was so good it’s all I have been thinking about this leaving the Philippines. The atmosphere and scenery of the restaurant is amazing and a must go to when in the area.

Amazing location, surprising dishes

We had a great night here. The bamboo path towards the restaurant winds its way through a mangrove forest, and lead to a secluded but beautiful wooden pavillion near the water with the restaurant in it. when we arrived, we had seats with an amazing view om both the Cebu hilltops and coast. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The waitress/cook who welcomed us was very accomodating. some dishes on the menu were labeled vegetarian but could be made vegan. We tried the banana shake, banana heart dish and jackfruit dish (see pics in other reviews). We enjoyed them all a lot. There are no vegan desserts except for fruit salad and caramelized bananas (without the ice cream), so I hope they might add some vegan dessert (e.g. banana pancakes with coconut-based nice cream to make it local) in the future to make it completely perfect. Then again, it's the Philippines, not exactly the hotspot for vegan dessert, so might as well put your sweet tooth aside for a few weeks and enjoy all other plant-based goodness the country has to offer! We had a lovely and eye-opening chat with both super friendly owners. On the way back over the bamboo path, we saw lots of fireflies like little embers lighting the path around us (They eat from the surrounding mangrove trees), combined with the clear night sky showing hundreds of stars it was a truly magical experience!

Pros: Surprising ingredients and great taste, Beautiful atmosphere and location, Very friendly staff and owners

Great food, nice place

Great hidden spot. Several vegan options. Banana blossom with coconut milk was delicious. Owners are very friendly.
You can also kayak/SUP through the mangrove. Check their FB page for schedule, since it is at a specific time each day depending on the tides. They also have dormitories and private rooms.

Really nice housemade meal

Peacefull place where you can see the sunset and have a nice meal.
Lanka with jackfruit and Escapo extra are really delicious and of course don't forget housemade chips with curry.
Tomorrow we will try breakfast.

Home cooked meals looking out over the water! 😍

This eco resort is located about 5km out of town. You get to walk across the bamboo boardwalk to get there! Follow the signs and the restaurant has a vegetarian menu with vegan options.

I went last night and got the taro curry bowl made with fresh coconut milk from their coconuts. (Takes 35 mins to make this dish fyi) I also got the homemade chips from potatoes with curry spice! If you're hungry this is a good thing to order because it comes out quick!
We were hungry so we also got the eggplant and red pepper (was good but not as good as the curries!)

I went back tonight and got more chips because l was hungry getting here again! The mashed potatoes in the apps can be made vegan just tell them no milk or butter and they're actually really nice with spices! I also got the banana flower curry and the jackfruit curry which on the menu warn of their long cook time!

Know-- the food takes a long time to make but it's because (according to the owner) they are making everything from scratch so sit back and enjoy the nature!

I recommend: the taro curry, the banana flower curry, the jackfruit curry and the homemade potato chips. All are great!

The owner is really passionate about preserving the mangroves so it's fun to chat with him if you get the chance!

Thanks for the delicious meals!

Pros: Great view/atmosphere, Vegetarian menu, Homemade/freshly cooked

Cons: Takes a long time - this is also a pro ;)

We're glad that you enjoyed your visits! We have been working on our kitchen processes and now all the dishes which used to take a while now take our normal time of 15-20 minutes. We have done this by better organising our kitchen, every dish is still cooked fresh for you as you order! So now you have less time to enjoy our wonderful views and peaceful ambience - but more time to find our hammocks and chill corners! :).

Great place

Very hidden away across the bamboo boardwalk (location on this app is incorrect but it's easy to find - signed on main road with parking for scooter before boardwalk or they invite you to bring your bike) so very quiet & really nice. They understand vegan - have many veg options & the owner is very friendly. The owner (Simon) was surprised but happy to learn about HappyCow & that he's on it!

Pros: Lots of Filipino veg options
