An oasis in a vegan desert - Edit
Escalante is a quaint little town in the middle of one of the most remote places in the lower 48. You can drive right through it in about two minutes. And the next town is at least an hour away, and even smaller. They like meat in these parts -- it's lonely being a vegan.
Read moreSo it's a pleasant surprise to find a healthy, quality, largely organic grocery and food shop in a place like this. They have one refrigerated case of fresh-made sandwiches, salads and dips, and a counter with baked goods. They're not strictly vegan or even vegetarian, but there are some good options. We ordered the tapenade sandwiches which they happily made fresh for us without cheese. We also got a pot of hummus which was the best of our trip, and some delicious sweet melon, perfect on a hot summer's day. They have a really well-stocked grocery with lots of vegan options, so if you want to shop for the road, or to stock up for camping or your next stop, it's a great option. An oasis in a vegan desert.
Pros: Friendly staff, happy to make something fresh, Some good prepared vegan foods, A well-stocked grocery with lots of vegan items

I’ll explain. - Edit
2 stars as a coffeeshop. Not really any fresh vegan pastries. Bonus that they have soy and oat milk.
Read more4 stars as a market, because they have vegan options that I’ve never even seen before.
Really surprised to see a shop like this tucked in a “back the blue”-punisher sticker on the truck kind of town, but the vibe is actually great. The patio is sunny and cozy, and there was even a sweet dog that roamed around, politely grazing on dropped morsels, with only an occasional begging glance.
Overall, 3/5, but 3 is as good as 5 when you have no competition in town. So if you’re hungry or thirsty or just looking for a nice interaction with the staff, roll in.
Pros: Great options Market, Friendly Staff
Cons: Coffee kinda bland, No fresh vegan baked goods etc...

Vegan Grocery Options - Edit
Stayed in Escalante on a Tuesday evening, and the one restaurant we thought we could get vegan options at was randomly closed. Thankfully, we found the Mercantile 30 minutes before it closes. We were able to get Beyond Burgers and broccoli to cook at our hotel. Lots of other options too, including Beyond Sausage and Indian/rice packs. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. Came back the next morning for espresso and a soy latte. Nice to have vegan options in such a small town.

Lovely store that serves meals too - Edit
Nice little store offering cooked food with vegan options. The store also stocks quite a lot of plant based stuff including oat milk and non dairy cheese. We had pasta al pesto, roasted potatoes and thai coconut and sweet potato soup. Everything was super tasty and we had it in the sun in the tables they have outside.

Nice find... - Edit
A very nice vegetarian/vegan store in Escalante. I had a veggie tapenade sandwich that was delicious! In fact, I went back a few days later for another. Unfortunately, it is not a bargain to shop there. For lunch, snacks, and water... it was nearly $45.

Cons: Can be expensive.
