Bland, probably a bad representation of this type of cuisine - Edit
All vegan! Great, automatic 2 stars. Very surprised to see rave reviews on this one, surely it just comes from excitement that everything is vegan and the food is.. ehm unique?
Read moreThe flavored piscos are interesting and while I admire the efforts in creating a all vegan restaurant to showcase a cuisine that doesn’t get much attention, but the upscale presentation with tiny portions is laughable, only because of how bland each bite is (outside of the tangy condiments that are served alongside empanadas, Little flavor to the empanadas themselves, and they were quite dry)
Pros: Pisco, Fragrant condiments
Cons: Cold mashed potato dish, Dry Empanada, $$$

Hit or miss - Edit
Overall I thought the empanadas, the seitan sandwich and soup were delicious! However the stuffed peppers and root veggies with cheese sauce were not worth the price and the flavors were off. For 2 people, our dinner was $50 and we definitely had food to go.

Can’t wait to come back - Edit
I came here with a group of 6 and didn’t want to embarrass my partner by taking photos, but we ended up trying almost everything on the menu. All the empanadas were tasty but it seems that the cheese-tomato (A) and cream cheese were the favorites. The ajì verde was my favorite sauce; it’s very reminiscent of other salsa verdes that I also enjoy. We split all the small plates among us, which I don’t recommend for a large group unless you only want a small taste. A small plate is probably best shared between 2-3 people. However I was glad I got to try all of them! The pimentones rellenos and quiche were my favorites. The quiche texture was soft and creamy and the flavors were pretty unique. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Solid healthy dinner - Edit
Great cocktails and really good food, left a little to be desired when everything was said and done though. Would return but a little pricey for what you actually get, would be good place to start night or go for drinks and snacks before dinner.

Start Your Night Out Here - Edit
Epif is simply adorable. Think small plates, but nothing too filling. Pisco mini flight is a great way to start your night's journey! Cocktails are well done and food is comforting and flavorful. Forgot to get picks of the empanadas, but they're also yummy. Get the green salsa!

It's gonna be a 4 from me dawg - Edit
Overall, I liked the experience at Epif. I liked the great cocktails, flavors were good, service was good, and great atmosphere. Everything we ordered was pleasing and tasty. It lost a star for me because its a fancy restaurant vibe, which means its expensive, plates are small (yes, its a small plate place but fancy restaurants do the thing where each plate isn't enough food), and there's a lot of focus on how the food looks. The food looked great AND tasted great so solid 4.

I used to love going here - Edit
In the past I would come often and get the empanadas which were perfect. There were other options that rotate at times. My last visit they said it was too time consuming to accommodate my sensitivities, which I completely understand. I do miss the empanadas though. My guests loved the piscos as well, though i don't drink so I wouldn't know.

South American Vegan deliciousness - Edit
Overall, the food is great. Strong flavors and bold choices. There are nit-picky things, but I did enjoy the meal. I will say that the empanadas and sopapilla weee delightful. The quiche was not my favorite, but it was not terrible. More of a matter of taste. Nice interior and easy to find. Quite an enjoyable experience. Also, I appreciate the focus on South American and not relying on Mexican flavors, which I also love. It is a unique palate experiences

Entire menu is plant based! - Edit
Had a lovely experience the other night at Epif where all the food is vegan and comes on small plates - but it’s all shareable. My date and I picked 3 dishes each and shared every one. We had 2 empanadas which were excellent, the salad, a polenta cake, the butternut squash bisque, and the fried pumpkin bread. I was stuffed! I didn’t even take any pictures - I was so enjoying the food and the company that I didn’t even think about it.

The food here is pretty good and they definitely do a good job at plating and paying attention to detail. The cocktails are also good. It's just a little expensive for the amount that you get.

Ok but underwhelmed - Edit
We came here with high expectations based on a number of reviews but found the food just ok. The stuffed peppers and salad were less than stellar—lacking in flavor and presentation. The quiche and baked empanada were better, but every dish was covered in dill which we found overpowering and lacking in creativity. With all the vegan options in Portland, I sadly wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Empanada B was very greasy, but amazing, the Ají Verde sauce was bursting with flavor. Everything was well balanced with flavor. Much more we’d like to try.

Epif is one of the best, most fancy vegan dining experiences you can have in Portland. Their food is art and the flavors come in fireworks. They have amazing cocktails, and scintillating, savory dishes. Treat yo self at Epif ASAP.

Gotta rinse the Q! - Edit
I figured a native chef from South America would know to thoroughly rinse the quinoa before cooking. I am one of the 15% of people who are sensitive to the saponin film that needs to be rinsed off. Loose stool in the morning.
Read moreI should have known this place would be less than expected when I was the only customer there and nextdoor at Güero esa hoppin'. The Q dish said it included garbanzos, and I found both at the bottom of the salad ( not billed as a salad). Chips were insipid. In the end I was still so hungry I had to eat more when I got home.
Pros: Cloth napkins, Friendly service, Nice music
Cons: Not enough food for the price, Quinoa poorly prepared, Food not as billed on the menu
