Found pieces of ham in my crepe

The food is normally lovely and the coffee is amazing. I rarely leave reviews for anywhere but I had a vegetarian crepe recently and found several pieces of ham in the crepe as I don’t think the crepe pan had been cleaned properly. I would avoid the crepes if you are vegetarian or vegan.

Several vegan crepes

When we visited, there were several vegan crepes on the menu, but considerably less than named in the description here on HappyCow.

My husband chose the Cumbrian crepe and I had the pesto one. Both were ok, but a bit unbalanced when it came to the ingredients. The Cumbrian had too much sauce, while the Pesto one was a bit boring.
We also had the Greek salad which consisted mostly of onions. Maybe it is how it is done in the UK and our different expectations were our own fault, but we simply couldn‘t eat it.
We had the shrove tuesday for dessert and we did not like it, although I think it was done according to tradition and it comes down to personal taste.

However, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the location of the restaurant, and the staff were very kind and friendly.

Pros: Several vegan choices, Nice atmosphere and location, Very friendly staff

Cons: Food was mostly ok, but could be better

Coffee n crepes

Not sure there are as many veeg options as advertised on the blab on happycow but there were at least 2 vegan savory and 1 sweet. We had sausage and red onion and a mozzarella pesto tomato one. Both nice. The sausages were the veggie kind not fake meat. Lots of red onions. The mozzarella was nice. Crepes themselves were ok. Coffee really nice. Cost £32.65. 3/4 as not fully vegan.

Choose carefully!

I wish I'd picked a different crepe here. The sweet ones all sounded delicious. I got the sausage and cheese crepe. The sausages were vegetable sausages when I expected 'meaty' sausages. The cheese hadn't really melted and was very sickly. There was nothing with any flavour: the pancake was unflavoured, the sausages were mainly potato and the cheese wasn't flavoured. I definitely picked badly and just want to warn other people off this option! Definitely needed a sauce, less cheese and a heads up about the sausages being vegetables.

Best coffee around!

We often go to Grasmere for retreat's and thus have got to sample all the coffee shops in the village. Emma's is by far the best for coffee and probably the only one serving vegan cake. The cafe is light and airy- lots of space and service is always great. Were disappointed when it was closed on Sunday and Monday - had to go elsewhere and it just didn't match Emmas.

Pros: Great oat milk cappuccinos, Nice to have vegan cake choices

Cons: Closed Sunday and Monday when we were there

Delicious crepes

Great selection of vegan crepes, I had the Cumbrian (vegan sausage and caramelised onion) and Temptation (sticky apple sponge and cinnamon creme anglaise), both of which were absolutely delicious!

Several vegan options

I always enjoy finding a crepe place that offers vegan options and there are several here. I had the pesto vegan option with vegan halloumi that was surprisingly good. Would recommend.

Warm and friendly

Choice of both sweet and savoury vegan crepes, some great smoothies too. I think it's good value for money and the place itself was nice and spacious.

Friendly atmosphere and many vegan options

Today they had a choice of 2 vegan cakes, and all the cakes were very generous potions. Friendly staff, table service, plenty of tables but filled up fast at lunchtime! Also some outside seating for the summer.

Relaxing atmosphere, lovely staff and well marked vegan options

Emma's Dell is a very friendly, modern, relaxing cafe. The vegan options were clearly marked and the owner took great care to double check which of the options we'd ordered were vegan. The crepes were made fresh to order. Taste wasn't exceptional so I would recommend they work a bit more on filling flavour of the savoury crepes - for example the Tandoori was very saucy with not many vegetables. However, this is a new vegan-friendly cafe in Grasmere and I was very impressed with the wide selection and helpfulness of the staff. Well worth a visit.

Pros: Wide range of well marked vegan options, Very friendly and helpful staff, Relaxing atmosphere

Cons: Better fillings and flavour please
