Misleading Menu

Menu labels the cauliflower byriani as vegan. A yoghurt based side was served as part of the dish (to be poured onto the byriani). I asked the server if it was definitely vegan, and they informed me it was not.

However, they then went on to tell me it was my fault for not declaring that I was vegan. Even though the menu clearly labels the dish as vegan. This ruined a situation that could have been rectified with a simple apology and promise to update the menu.

Very good vegan Indian food!

I had the Bhindi Do Pyaza! And it was very delicious! I asked the chef to add tofu which he did!

Really nice biryani

If you ask what is vegan the staff will point options out to you, and there is a decent selection. Had a cauliflower biryani and was impressed. Really good!

Pros: Some vegan options , Nice atmosphere

Cons: No separate vegan menu

A handful of vegan Indian dishes

Nothing is marked on the menu, so you have to ask for the hand scribbled allergen menu which states what has dairy etc. There was 1 starter and 2 main dishes available. They were tasty but small portions and overpriced. Avoid the poppadoms, not sure how they messed them up but they had a weird taste and came with a strong dark dipping sauce which was awful - why? Stick to mango chutney! Service was poor throughout. It’s a typical pompous highland hotel restaurant which thinks it’s great but in reality is only slightly better than a Wetherspoons.

Pros: Better than not eating anything

Cons: Vegan options aren’t marked on the normal menu , Small portions, Very limited choice
