CLOSED: Elixir

Elixir is a very nice place with delicous vegan food and friendly staff.

We have come here _three times_ during the marked opening hours and each time just find out it's closed! Won't try again, this is unforgivable :( Sad since I'm sure the food is really good...

Please be careful with the google map marker on the happycow page. As for Jun 7 2016, it is not correct. But the address is right. So search the address "Budapest, Auróra utca 11, Hungary" or use GPS "N 47° 29' 38.672'' E 19° 4' 34.198''". Once at the gate of Aurora utica 11, go through the corridor and that's it!

We came here because we wanted vegan, gluten-free food. Was a bit hard to find (no real signs) but we are happy that we just entered the door at No.11 and found Elixir. We had Burgers with potatoes, real tasty at an absolutely fair price. The place is run by it's two owners and is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a place with good food and attitude! Thanx Adam for preparing the last two burgers of the day!

They recently moved and I had to see what changed. They are still hard to find, but now they have plenty of seats, and there is a new item on the menu. Burgers! They still have the usual ever-changing delicious soups and main dishes, and the pizza, but now they have a must try burger too. Vegan and gluten-free as everything else they have on menu! The other news is that they now share the space with a bar, so be careful, you may lose track of time in this place!

Felt like we were eating in someone's kitchen! Soups were good but lacked seasoning. The pizza had good nuanced taste.

This place wasn't quite what I was expecting from a bistro - it was more of a takeaway place than somewhere to eat in. There was only a bench, and food was served in takeaway pots. The most important thing though: the food was delicious! We had millet, ginger lentils and delicious little potato cakes. Everything was well-seasoned and well-cooked. The chef was really passionate about veganism, spoke great English and was very friendly. I would definitely go back, just not expecting a fancy sit-down meal.

We came towards the end of the day when they had run out of most things, but were still given a selection of different dishes. Everything we ate was lovely! We ended up speaking to one of the owners who was very friendly and helpful, recommending us his favourite places in he city. Would definitely recommend!

I tried Elixir and it was amazing! Everything was very tasty AND healthy! Foods are "low fat", most of them gluten free and of course meat, dairy, egg and honey free!
Staff is also very friendly and speaks perfect English.
So If you are vegan, do not miss it!:-)

The serve two meal options and pizza to take away or eat in. The food is vegan and gluten free and the chef speaks perfect English.
If you want to minimize the waste, bring your own container if you take the food out, they are happy to fill it for you. if you use their containers to go, the will charge you an extra 200 FT.

This is a small bistro where we found a warm and happy atmosphere. It's beautiful that you are in contact with the chef, you can ask questions and he's very kind. The owners speak very good english and we even had a good conversation like we were among friends :)
We ate a onion soup that was good-tasting and not heavy at all. Then some polenta with eggplant and chickpea, very good! This was the menu of the day, but it changes everyday. We also ate an almond muffin that was perfect, rich in almonds and not too sweet. I found the food healthy, tasty and satisfying; it was also gluten free. In the facebook page there is the detail of the weekly menu and prices, that are inexpensive. I reccommend this place for your lunch :)
