An Unforgettable Evening

August 2025. One of the final fully vegan menus at Eleven Madison Park.

I've been to many excellent vegan restaurants over the years, but this experience was on another level. Everything felt thoughtful, refined, and genuine without ever feeling pretentious.

Visiting the kitchen was a special moment and gave me an entirely new appreciation for the people behind the experience.

What I remember most isn't a specific course. It's the feeling the evening left behind: admiration, inspiration, and gratitude.

I know many vegans were disappointed when EMP stepped away from being fully vegan. I was too. But I also recognize how difficult it must be to sustain a restaurant of this caliber in New York City.

What I find interesting is that we often celebrate restaurants that add a vegan menu, yet criticize one that tried to build an entire fine dining concept around plants and later had to change course. Either way, I believe EMP played an important role in elevating plant-based cuisine and showing what is possible.

A truly memorable experience.

Once in a lifetime experience

When I went vegan 22 years ago, I never would have imagined being able to enjoy a 3-Michelin star meal like this! Yes, it’s unfortunate they added meat options, but having a plant-forward menu with a full vegan option is better than the restaurant going out of business!!

The food was truly phenomenal, with flavors more complex and balanced than anything I’ve ever had. The wine pairing was exquisite and heightened the food even further. The service was flawless, if a bit flat. I don’t know that I would go back, but would definitely recommend if you’re able.

Beautifully Crafted, But Lacking Depth

Dined at Eleven Madison Park early December 2025 and was excited to try their 10-course plant-based tasting menu, and while I truly appreciated the creativity and intention behind the concept, the overall flavor profile felt underwhelming.

Given how vibrant, bold, and satisfying plant-based cuisine can be, this was surprising. I’ve experienced five-star vegan meals elsewhere that were not only technically impressive but also deeply flavorful and inspiring—dishes that left a lasting impression. In comparison, this menu felt like it was missing that same level of depth and excitement.

The presentation and service were, of course, exceptional, and the effort behind reimagining fine dining through a plant-based lens is commendable. I just wish the flavors had matched the ambition.

Thanksgiving

Our family was so over the top excited to visit Eleven Madison for Thanksgiving. Alas, the meal underwhelmed on every level. The leak soup was perfectly bland, the cranberry sauce my kids agreed was no where near as interesting they make with lemongrass each year, the main dish was an uninspiring disc of sweet potato with a limp spinach leaf and for dessert a flavorless hard tart and a tiny scoop of cinnamon ice-cream that tasted of watery coconut.
The service felt like we were watching a Disney ride with every of the many staff circling the gorgeous massive flowers continuously.
Worst of all after what would be the fact that all the tiny precious portions did not add up to a filling meal and as we walked the high line later that night laughing about it all we were hungry.

Pros: The flowers were gorgeous

Cons: Cold literally got a candle halfway through the me, Food was uninspiring, Tiny precious portions left us had empty

Unfortunately Overhyped

The dining experience at Eleven Madison was ultimately a rollercoaster of highs and lows. The service is the peak, with staff members anticipating patrons’ needs and attending to the finest of details. The food however, was seemingly not as intentional. There was an incessant tug of war between captivating and unimpressive dishes. Also, the pacing between courses was tedious—amounting to four hours—and the progression lacked a cohesive culinary narrative.

It is with great disappointment that my experience was misaligned with the expectations generated by the restaurant’s reputation.

Incredible Experience, but Miss the All-Vegan Days 🥲

I tried this back in 2022 when they were fully vegan, and wow — what an experience! Every dish was stunning and absolutely delicious, truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had.

I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 now since they’re no longer fully vegan.

Not vegan

Exploits animals. Need to take body parts and secretions off the menu again and go back to just serving food.

Lucky to try this before they add animals to the menu

Luckily our New York trip was booked before they add meat back to the menu. They do have beverages including wines that are not vegan friendly so be careful with the drinks, but the staff are super knowledgeable. It was a one of a kind experience. The food and presentation was wonderful.

Pros: Excellent service

Cons: Wine not all vegan , Whey in some drinks , Will be adding animal back to products

What a special experience.

9 courses and not a bad one amongst them. So grateful to finally try this wonderful gem of a restaurant. I have food allergies and they very kindly ensured I could eat everything (having to make several alterations). Pure artistry.

Pros: Food, Staff

Best dining experience in our live

This is our second time at Eleven Madison Park and they this time they topped the last, which was the best dining experience we’d ever had in our lives until this latest visit.
We’re vegan & gluten free (celiac) and have a peanut allergy and the food was AMAZING. The staff was attentive. The attention to detail was thoughtful and consistent. Everything was so special. We will go again and again.

Pros: Attentive staff, Amazing food, Creativity

Unforgettable meal

I’ve been to a number of vegan fine dining restaurants around the States, but this was the most outstanding food and experience of them all! I took 2 non-veg friends who went in skeptical, but came out saying it was one of the best meals of their lives! For once I didn’t take photos because it’s so fancy, but everything was beyond delicious and looked like art. We thought the staff was excellent and incredibly well organized in their flow. We even got to go to the kitchen, meet the executive chef, and have a special bite in there. Fantastic and cannot recommend this place any more highly. You won’t regret the splurge.

Didn’t love

I love the fact that they have gone vegan, but having been previously in my (and their) non-vegan days, the old menu was unfortunately better. Some of the flavors and textures were a bit strange for me and I was left feeling unsatisfied. It was a very impressive dining experience, with detailed descriptions of each course and several courses of desserts.

Underwhelmed. One & Done.

Underwhelmed with the overall experience. Exquisite service details matter at this level & they just were not there.

The key interest in going was to experience the plant based menu at a Michelin star level. Loved the seasonal farm to table concept. The food was tasty & the presentation appealing, with the first dish, a creamy mushroom velouté & warm laminated croissant like rolls being the real favorites. There was no ambiance, no charm. It felt corporate. Too loud, annoying music, couldnt really hear what the dishes were-they give you a printed menu at the end, which would have been helpful at the beginning. We expected a warm welcome, but did not get one. We had a reservation & prepaid as required over $500 , were early, but unlike other places, we did not experience being made to feel like this was going to be amazing. Fell far short. Service was perfunctory, though there are plenty of staff, it should have been part of the experience & it was, but not in a good way. Unfortunate. We want to support plant based businesses & the food was decent, but for the price & Michelin star expectations-overall, it fell flat. One & done here.

Perfection!

For as acclaimed as the food is, and deservedly so - it was excellent, when really stood out was the amazing, gracious, welcoming service. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated in a friendly, relaxed way. We did the full tasting menu with wine pairings, which was presented in an unhurried, perfectly timed manner. Not only was everyone we interacted with knowledgeable about each dish and wine, but also the history of the building and philosophy and evolution of Eleven Madison Park. We especially appreciated our lead server Garrett who happily answered our many questions and gave us an idea of what it is like to be a part of the team that is the incomparable Eleven Madison Park.

Wow

Having eaten at The French Laundry back in the day I kinda knew what to expect but this surpassed my expectations and the fact that it’s plant based is so amazing. This was my daughter’s graduation dinner with her brother and uncle and we were all made to feel very cared for at 11 Madison. The food was both delicious and interesting and I can honestly say I slept way better than I did after my meals at The French Laundry.

A truly unforgettable experience.

This was my second time celebrating my husband's birthdays here, and once again, everything was exceptional. We absolutely loved the spring menu — each dish was thoughtful, vibrant, and beautifully presented. Julia took such great care of us, Marc curated the perfect wine pairings, and Chloé gave us an incredible behind-the-scenes look into the kitchen. Meeting Chef Humm was the highlight — truly priceless. The food, the experience, and the level of hospitality were nothing short of extraordinary. It's the kind of evening that shifts how you see food and service. I hope everyone gets to experience this at least once — it's truly life-changing.

Pros: Thoughtful service, Beautiful experience,

30min wait for reservation, food was very mid

unacceptably long wait for reservation. only good if you want to have all your food presented in the most insufferable way possible. things just always subtlety bad. like a chocolate covered pretzel with zero salt and no crunch. whole thing seemed like it was trying to be fancy instead of taste good. zero beans, tofu, chickpeas, rice or most other staples anywhere. waste of money.

Eleven Madison … more like Eleven Stars 😍

Ok, this is an expensive experience but that is exactly what is it.. an EXPERIENCE. We did the full tasting menu and it was out of this world good. We were there for 4 hours and left absolutely stuffed ! I thought i would leave hungry as i had the impression dine dining meant hardly any food, but wow was i wrong, we had plenty! Some of the tastiest and most creative food we have had, presentation was amazing and the staff were all super friendly. We got invited into kitchen at the end! What an experience !!

Elegant dinning and service

This is definitely the fanciest elevated dinning experience we’ve ever had. This would probably be the first time i could say confidently that it was well worth the price. From the moment you’re greeted they take your jackets and bags promptly. The seating is so spacious. Everything came out with perfect timing and there was a significant amount of food with the 7 course tasting menu. There was someone tending to the table almost constantly with the revolving set of wait staff. 10/10 would recommend and will be back.
