The best in Tarragona - Edit
Vegans don’t just want vegan tacos or burgers or anything that demonstrates how good vegan food can mimick the meat. Most of the time we also want to eat our healthy risotto with broccoli, gazpacho, or even some soup with balls. This restaurant delivers exactly that: delicious vegan food that is also good for your health and perfectly presented. To this day it’s the best vegan restaurant you can find in the area.

Another Superb Visit - Edit
I visited El Vergel in May 2025 for lunch. I had a lovely table by an open window which overlooks the street below and a short distance from Tarragona Cathedral. I chose the Menu Del Dia, which is excellent value at €20,90. I had a beetroot salad starter, risotto main and a mille-feuille dessert. Can’t wait to revisit in September when we return to Spain.

Read moreThe lady who served us was very friendly and the menu was full of freshly cooked, carefully selected items with a three course offer that was extremely good value that we tried.
We had a beetroot tagline and a chickpea salad starter, which tasted very good and was presented beautifully. Main course we had were the black pizza which had delicious dough, and the burger and the lasagne. All very hearty and home made. The dessert was a cafe crème and a cream pastry which was so good.
Highly recommend eating here if you visit the area. You won’t be disappointed

Die Atmosphäre ist sehr schön. Die Tische sind weit genug voneinander entfernt, das Personal sehr freundlich, Essen sehr lecker. Man kann dort für nur 20€ ein Menü von Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Nachspeise wählen. Wir kommen nochmal!

My husband and I stopped here for lunch and enjoyed their special offer of a starter, main and dessert for €21. The quality and presentation of each of the dishes was incredible and our absolute favourite dish was the black pizza - truly unmissable! There is a calm vibe and lots of photos of rescued animals on the walls, which is a lovely touch. Exactly the kind of place I want to see thrive! It is the only vegan restaurant in Tarragona at time of writing so it's an absolute must visit if you're in the area!

Great food near ancient ruins - Edit
Stumbled across this place on an evening walk. From the street it looks deserted but very nice once you get upstairs. Food was delicious. Had the black pizza which I highly recommend. Soup was good. Beet salad looked delicious as did the chicken sandwich. Dessert was fantastic, recommend the cheese cake or the chocolate pie.

We booked a reservation in advance but arrived to find the restaurant completely closed. We also emailed the restaurant in advance of our trip to Spain but received no response. A little notice would have been nice! We planned our whole day around checking out this vegan restaurant.

We had starters, mains, desserts, coffees and Ayurvedic teas. It was all delicious. This restaurant also offers many dishes that are gluten free. And cherry on the cake: our dog was welcome in the restaurant. We highly recommend this place!

Surprisingly pleasant vegan restaurant in the old town. Nearly put off going in by the look of the entrance and stairs leading to the restaurant. However the restaurant is lovely with nice choices on the menu. Best meal I have had so far while being on holiday in Salou. Unfortunately the waitress brought out my partners apple and cream dessert without cream and only explained the machine was broken after he asked for cream
