A wonderful vegan dining experience in Tarragona! 🌱 - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal at El Vergel! I started with the beetroot, apple, celery and avocado tartare, which was fresh and light. The highlight for me was the fideuà with truffled mushrooms and vegan aioli a creative vegan take on a traditional Catalan dish, made with pasta instead of rice. A great way to experience local cuisine with a plant-based twist!

A great place to explore creative vegan food in Tarragona. Definitely worth a visit! 💚

The only 100% vegan restaurant in Tarragona city - Edit
El Vergel is a classic in the city of Tarragona. The first time I tried it was in its first year after opening and I wasn't very convinced, but we went back yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised.
Read moreIt has a very well-thought-out space and food offering. They also have some animal awareness messages and pictures, and lots of things for kids (toys, coloring books...), so it's ideal for families.
I would have liked them to have a bit more on the à la carte menu than just starters and burgers; but they offer a full set menu (two courses and dessert) or a mini menu (just one course and dessert) which is the best option if you want variety.
In our case, for starters we ordered a kale, tofu and fig salad; and lauki badas with yogurt sauce, both quite good.
For mains we had potato pie with vegan protein and vegetables (amazing!); and sweet potato, zucchini and no-chicken curry stew.
For dessert they had run out of cheesecake, so we chose sweet potato and cacao cake with white chocolate; and a very sweet plum crumble.
Overall all the food is very good, although the portions are a bit small and the dishes aren't that elaborate for the final price of the menu.
Pros: Animal awareness messages, Good homemade food, Quiet and elegant atmosphere
Cons: Price a bit high for the portion sizes

Restaurante de menú, con entrantes a la carta. Toda la comida nos pareció buenísima. Me gustaron especialmente las croquetas de champiñones ahumados y una galleta de las que tienen expuestas en el mostrador. Además, ofrecieron a nuestra peque dibujos para colorear y lápices de colores para amenizar la espera de la comida.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was incredibly tasty and of high quality, and the service was excellent. The waiter was very helpful and really friendly. The atmosphere was also relaxed, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated with plants and cute pictures of animals. El Vergel is a must-visit when you come to Tarragona!

Geschmack: Ich hatte einen Kartoffelkuchen auf Pilzen (warm) und als Vorspeise zum Tagesmenü einen Salat mit Erdbeeren, veganem Feta und Sprossen.
Es war sehr lecker und sättigend, jedoch wenig proteinreich.
Meine Begleitung hatte einen veganen Burger mit Pommes, der meiner Begleitung ebenfalls geschmeckt hat.
Zum später essen haben wir Nachos mit Tomatensoße, daran sind Bohnen enthalten, bestellt. Die Nachos sind glutenfrei.
Außerdem Burritos, diese enthalten jedoch Gluten.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, kennt sich jedoch mit dem Vorhandensein von Gluten wenig aus. Daher musste ich mehrfach nachfragen, welche Gerichte für mich geeignet sind. Eine Deklaration in der Speisekarte ist nicht vorhanden.
Aus der Sicht von mir als vegane Ernährungsberaterin: Das Essen ist lecker und wer möchte, kann hier vollwertig speisen, auch glutenfrei. Jedoch sollte dies mit dem Personal abgeklärt werden. Für Menschen, die Gluten essen, gibt es proteinreiche Burger.

Extra bestellen en een aanpassing in de menu's is geen enkel probleem.
Het eten is zeer goed van smaak.
Onze zoon was jarig dat bekend werd bij aankomst. Bij zijn toetje kreeg hij er een kaarsje in en kwam op de radio een verjaardagsliedje. Ontzettend attent!
Prijs is ook heel goed ten opzichte van Nederlandse begrippen.

Tienen una carta bastante completa que puedes hacer menú. La comida estaba muy sabrosa. El plato que más nos gustó fue el chorizo con salsa chimichurri. Recomendadísimo, además está a 5 minutos andando de la Catedral de la ciudad.

The food here was absolutely to die for. We (myself and partner) had the privilege of staying less than a five minute walk from El Vergel. We ended up eating here 3 times in our week long trip to Tarragona. We would have gone every night if we could, but obviously the lovely staff had to rest, so they were closed some evenings.

Not only was the food beautiful, the price was so reasonable, which just added to our overall experience.
I would also like to shout out to the sweetest staff member who served us on our first and last meal, so friendly and showed genuine interest in us and other customers (and the little four legged doggies). Thank you for adding that special touch to our holiday. Gracias 🌱

Read moreMinutes walk from the cathedral, you go through the door and up stairs. This is a big restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We were able to sit very comfortably with our two big dogs. They were out of pizza which was a shame as that was what we really wanted. The staff were so friendly. We had the chick’n burger and chorizo meal. We personally found both meals to be a bit oily, but we don’t eat a lot of oil, so we really pick up on it. The main meals were around 13/15 euros, and there is a meal of the day for 16 or 22 euros (2 or 3 courses).
