I ordered to-go and got the Vegan Mexican Pizza. It didn't have sour cream as listed and shown on the picture and refried beans instead of black (which isn't a big deal). Tons of unmelted vegan cheese shreds which isn't yum. I also ordered a kids meal for my nephew which comes with rice and beans (pic and description) only to find french fries as the side when I got home. I was told it is how they do kids meals now and I have to specify? if I want rice and beans. The soy chicken tasted good, but all of this makes me hesitant to go back especially when the prices are high.

I love this place! They have an entire vegan menu section with plenty of meat options and even dessert! I got the Mexican pizza and it was fantastic! My husband got the chimichanga and the flavor was on point. We also got the vegan oreo fried ice cream. It was an event. Super rich and delicious. The portions were huge and the atmosphere was gorgeous. One of my new favorite spots in Washington. I can't wait to go back and try everything.

Great Vegan Menu and Friendly Staff - Edit
El Sarape never disappoints, it has the classic Mexican restaurant feel with plenty of vegan options to choose from. While the prices on the menu may seem like a lot at first they give out HUGE portions so I always have leftovers that make it worth it to me. This location is also a bit more upscale than the other locations in town so I recommend it for birthdays or other special events.

It was super exciting to have so many vegan options on the menu, probably around 8-10 with three meat replacement options and dairy free cheese. I ordered the avocado enchiladas and they were perfect, 10/10 recommend.

I really enjoyed the food here. I loved the rajas tacos. Super fun that they have a vegan fried ice cream. We didn’t love the tortilla soup. The staff is nice and they let us sit with our dog in the outdoor bar seating!

We order off the vegan menu ALL THE TIME. It’s very good and plentiful portion. It is fairly pricey but we can often get two meals out of one order and it’s great for groups with non-vegan eaters.

So much food and such good flavor. They actually took the time to not just sub out the non vegan ingredients but to put stuff in its place that’s substantial. Will take a family or visiting guest there. Would recommend the non vegans to try these dishes

To be honest, what pushed them to four stars was having a whole separate vegan menu. The food won’t blow you away, but it was good and I appreciate having places with multiple vegan options that are also a good place to eat out with non-veg people.

Great vegan options. Nice portions. Great quality plant based products...want to know their chorizo recipe. Tasted like vital gluten, but nice texture and spices. Hadn't been to el sarape since Cooper pt location. So happy to see large vegan menu and new location is beautiful.

I wish there was more restaurants like this being Mexican I miss going out and eating somewhere that has delicious Mexican food I got the Mexican pizza it was so good I definitely would drive 40 mins from Puyallup just to eat here again. I also like it has a whole separate vegan menu.

The vegan menu is really great here! There’s a wide variety of options, but my family and I love the vegan fajitas here!! They’re super flavorful and delicious, and I get them every time I go. Also, their vegan fried ice cream is SO good. This is definitely up there as one of my all time favorite places to eat.

Amazing vegan mexican!! - Edit
My husband and I got the burrito gordo, the chimi, and the tamale. All were good but the chimi was outstanding!! My husband who is a meat eater loved it and would order it for himself next time. The vegan cheese they use isn't weird tasting either(some can be). We were so impressed and can't wait to go back and try more.

I found this place on Happy Cow when I was traveling and searching for some vegan options. I almost skipped out as I could not find their vegan menu posted on the website, but the reviews I found made it sound so delicious I couldn't pass it up. I believe there are a few locations, but this one has a large parking lot out front and 2 cool statues to take your photo with. I really like the indoor decorations as well, it looked like some of it was for the holiday season, but the cool tree in the middle must stand out any time of the year.

The separate bar area seemed large and hand plenty of seating and even though a game was on it was not overwhelming. I struggled to decide what to eat as everything sounded so tasty, but since it'd been forever since I had a Mexican pizza with fake cheese and fake meat that won out. I also really wanted to try the tortilla soup and fajitas del tri. It's impressive to me that they have so many fake meat options, I can't wait to try them all and love that the fajitas del tri lets you try 3 of the options. Truthfully it all sounds great and I am already thinking about how I can make a plan to meet up there with local friends and am dreaming about having my leftovers for lunch.

This place has so many great vegan options! The food was wonderful and the restaurant overall had a nice atmosphere. I had been craving traditional family Mexican restaurant style food and this definitely satisfied my craving. I believe the cheese they use on the enchiladas and refried beans was follow your heart. This will be a new go to in Olympia!

All the classic El Sarape meals offered in a vegan option. Great place for mixed groups that include vegans and omnivores. Heard vegan fried ice cream is in the works.
