Cute, vegan-friendly place - Edit
What an adorable spot, I wish we had time to eat there. The outdoor dining area is so charming, its wooded and there's s screened in area w string lights. We checked ahead, and they were able to make very yummy vegan veggie burritos for us. Good chips and homemade salsa, too. The staff was super friendly and funny too :)

Best burrito! - Edit
There isn't a vegan burrito on the menu, but they were happy to make them for us. Friendly staff; I don't like cilantro so they let me know which salsa (homemade!) contained it so I could swap it for another. The burrito was absolutely delicious, with beans, rice, chard, squash, onions, peppers, and the aforementioned salsa. It does get very busy. We were there on a weekday afternoon the parking lot was full.

Best damn burrito In New England - Edit
When you are island hopping and visiting those small out of the way places you are always grateful to have a vegan option but I didn’t expect to find the best burritos I’ve ever had at this small little local hangout. And they have vegan desserts! They capped a great day in a great natural setting.

Pros: Home made and amazing tortillas. Vegan macaroons!, Fresh veggies grown on site, Outside eating and covered screened area
Cons: The dinning is all outside (COVID sucks)

love this little place - Edit
It was so easy to order vegan, the staff and customers were all so friendly, and the outdoor and screened seating options were all so fun. There was a tofu burrito special the day we ate here, and easily made it into a vegan bowl. I love the salsa bar!

Vegan friendly, off the beaten path - Edit
After visiting the area many times, we finally stopped in at El El Frijoles (a fantastic pun on L.L. Bean, a couple of hours down the road). So glad we did. We found it on the BringFido app, and it is indeed dog friendly. A nice outdoor eating area, and screened in dining area (not sure if that's dog friendly).
Read moreWhen I said to the man behind the counter "I'm Vegan" he cheerfully pointed out they are HappyCow approved (vegan options), and said there were no animal products lurking in the rice or beans. So nice not to have to explain what vegan is!
All of the staff were super friendly. The food was good too! Hubby had chicken nachos (he's an omni), and I had the roasted seasonal veggie burrito: summer squash, zucchini, red pepper and red onion, black beans, rice and salsa. Very tasty. The have a lime-marinated cabbage salad which sounds great for our next visit.
Tried the Horchata, a homemade Mexican-style rice and almond drink, with vanilla and cinnamon. Refreshing.
Their chocolate dipped homemade vegan macaroons were the clincher. Oh, so good! I bought one after placing my order, and had already eaten it before my lunch! Talked with the chef/co-owner about her recipe (complete with aquafaba), and proceeded to get 4 more for the road. :-D
Pros: Vegan options, fresh/locally-sourced when possible, Friendly staff, dog-friendly outdoor dining area, Vegan chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons!
Cons: Would be great to have one-two more vegan options,, Tho they would probably alter any item to make it , vegan if you asked!

Favorite vegan place in the area - Edit
This place never disappoints! Their food is delicious and fresh and the owners are super friendly. While there is nothing explicitly vegan on the menu, they will know exactly what you’re talking about if you ask for a vegan burrito, taco, or bowl.

Best Mexican food far and wide - Edit
El El Frijoles (a pun for LL Bean), is a small, family run Mexican restaurant off the beaten path on the Maine coast. It is very popular with omnivores, but what makes it great is that the vegan options are fantastic! Tasty, fresh, original, locally sourced, never boring. My husband and I love to stop by for vegan tacos (three homemade corn tacos with roasted seasonal veggies, guacamole, slaw, rice, black beans), unlimited homemade salsa with different spiciness, not overly sweet horchata (rice and cinnamon drink) or a variety of iced teas. The desserts are usually vegan cookies, macaroons or sorbet. Not to miss if you are in the area!
