Good brunch place

Quesadillas were okay, falafel and hummus was fine. Nice staff but a bit too pricey.

Edit: we went for brunch two days in a row and the homemade vegan cheese is simply mindblowing. The Banh Mi was awesome and the mango passion fruit lassi was fantastic.

Ok

The bowls were pretty bland and lack dressing. Advertised as vegan but they have cheese on the menu.
Not too bad overall.

Ok vegan food

Buddha bowl was bland, no seasoning or dressing, basically some lettuce, corn and tomatoes mixed in. The samosa on the other hand was quite nice. Still not a great impression. Feels like the vegan revolution hasn't really hit this part of Vietnam yet compared to everywhere else we've been. Perhaps in a year or two?

Great food

I would give this 5 stars as my meal was great and the menu looks amazing it’s just a bit pricey.
I want to try majority of the large menu but I limited myself to 1 main and it was fab.

Great filling and sauce on the taco. Recommend paying a visit.

Pros: All vegan , Big menu , Large seating area

Cons: Pricey

Thank you so much for your review and rating.
Happy to hear that you enjoyed el cafe..

As we seen in the picture of your review. You had a great taco which comes in 3 tortilla with fillings. At the price of 85.000 vnd. About 3 dollars and 20 cent.
Usually, its cost 20$ or €,£ in western or any English country where it's also easy and cheap to get indigrident locally. But in Vietnam where its impossible to get all these indigrident? we are depend on the 100% overseas imported indigrident for dishes we serve.

Recently, we delete some dishes from our menu because its contains saffron and green sweet cardamom.

We cant afford saffron 25$ for one any more. The same with cardamom 113$ for one kg.

If we think of using local ingredients? We cant serve such popular mexican, indian, italian dishes.

Vietnam dosent have that climate for such indigridents.

I hope you can understand this.

Our food is unique and to make it upto perfection? We need to import such indigridents at very high price and custom duty.

Thank you so much for your review.
Hope to see you again

Professional

This is one of the best food I ate so far in Vietnam. I visited the restaurant twice and ordered dahl, samosa and ice cream. If you are looking for something, which was made by real cooks and looks nice on your plate, you won't be disappointed! Forget about the cheap buffets and taste some real Indian food here. The owner is super friendly and passionate too and the prices are very reasonable for such a good service!

Pros: Many options, Friendly staff, Great food

Very good taste, a bit pricy

The place was very cozy and the food was really good.
Guacamole not that good and they gave us very little but the rest was great.
The price a bit more expensive than normal place but it's okay.

Thanks for your valuable visit to el Cafe.
Guacamole is made from avocado. Which is all year expensive and fragile fruit. Even not everyone like avocado fruit. Sometimes we get back in empty cutlery.
You ordered nachos which comes with the side sauce only. If you love guacamole in big motion? We have guacamole 25.000vnd for 150 gm. In our menu.

If you talking about normal place (Vietnamese rice vegetables places) for sure but it's okay.
Salad are 2.6$ USD,
Drink 1$ USD
Snack which you order 2.6$
Food you order is 10$ for all.

Happy to serve you ?
See you again.

Delicious!

We've been travelling through Myanmar and Vietnam for a month and craving some familiar food! We're so glad to have found El Cafe on Happycow as it was delicious and the service attentive. We had the Shahi Paneer and the Palak Paneer - all their "cheese" dishes are all vegan except for the parmesan which can be easily left out of anything! It was soooo good! We also ordered the Garlic Naan and steamed rice. There was enough leftover to have lunch tomorrow also. Large servings, delicious fresh food and great value!

Tasty but small portions

We tried the Mexican Salad, the Falafel Plate and some Tacos with two dips. The taste was good but considering the portion sizes it’s all a little bit expensive. The staff is friendly, the ambiente and the variety of the menu are great. But not everything on the menu looks vegan so make sure to ask yourself.

Pros: variety of dishes, modern place, friendly english speaking staff

Cons: small portion sizes, a little bit more expensive

Has potential

It’s in a big modern outdoor area with tons of seating, but there’s no music or atmosphere and when walking past many times it was always empty. The menu seems too ambitious for its own good, it’s massive and there’s SO many different international dishes on there how can it be possibly to execute them all properly. Peri peri chips were pretty good, but then we had quesadilla and falafel plate which we didn’t like at all. Quesadilla was doughy and pretty flavourless (not thin & crispy on the outside, cheesy on the inside), the falafel had a weird texture and the hummus tasted funky. The creamy sauce and salad were good at least.
We asked the waitress at the start if everything was vegan - no cow’s milk and she said yes. I’m still not fully convinced though, as it’s not mentioned anywhere, and if it is actually vegetarian with vegan options there should be some clear labelling.
I hope this place succeeds, just wasn’t our cup of tea.

Pros: large outdoor dining space, good portion sizes

Cons: expensive (mains around 90k), the dishes we tried were not tasty

It’s in a big modern outdoor area with tons of seating,
Yes, correct we have seating of 350 people but there’s no music because we have loudly Russian neighbors who play a music loudly everyday. May be you haven't care about that. We also think that every place have music with loud speaker, so why not one place in muine with peaceful atmosphere, where peopl can feel different from another places. We might put the music if we get more customers request. The area is newly built, less than 3 weeks of opening, that's the reason its looks empty.. people will get to know slowly. The menu huge and have something for everyone. It's our old menu with add on more new dishes on customer request. And it's good that people have a great choice of meatless food. We have dishes from 13 different countries. And each dish is chosen only after perfection in result. As you order plenty of dishes. Peri peri chips is the only one dish we have from Portugal. And we doing really good into that. I saw the picture you posted of quesadilla and falafel plate which we didn’t like. We really dont like Quesadilla doughy and flavourless, so after reading your review , we understand how to lift up the dish and we did already. Thanks for that. falafel can't be crispy inside or can say can't be crunchy, its because its fried from outside only. I saw dish picture. The hummus we re-check and didnt found any complaint.

Our waitress have all the information about each dish. We produce 6 typed of different vegan cheese by our self. These cheese we use only in our cooking - no cow’s milk or any animal product. To make you fully convinced?, we invite you to our cheese processing field any time. Mon & Thursday. We didnt mention it’s because once we wrote vegan text and find that vegetarian people didnt like ot. Sp we back to vegetarian tag. But everything is vegan. Our place is succeeding more because we have lots of time and space to focus on demand on vegan and vegetarian customers.

Thanks you so much, A Big one..
Hope to see you again.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, you obviously have a lot of care for your customers. Glad to hear you’ve revised the quesadilla recipe too. Good luck with everything!

Mostly vegan (not all)

The girl serving us told us that the menu is old and much is veganized with (home made) cheese. Mostly of cashew. There are still a few non- vegan dishes (pasta, just ask about this). Our Quesadilla did not look the same as on the first picture above and didn't taste like real cheese. But was okay & truly vegan. We went here tree times and we loved the amount of choices. Most of the dishes were a bitt small, so we mostly ordered three. The salads are clean and simple, the falafel is good, the Mexican food is okay and the Nepalese food is yum! We love that they don't use a lot of oil except with the fries. Oh and the banana chocolate and coconut chocolate milkshakes are delish!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Vegan milkshakes and fresh juice, Three kitchens to taste from

Cons: Some dishes are not vegan

Hello and thanks for your review explaining with experience straight after the above review. We recently change the recipe with cashew parmesan for pasta. In Quesadilla we work with a change after above review. That's why it's different. Its didn't taste like real cheese. It's just because of our home made vegan cheese recipe and 100% vegan. The main course dishes are bigger than snacks and starters. Everything we make only at the time order comes. That's why its takes a minutes for serve fresh and delicious. In the Mexican food we made more improvements and bring it upto perfection.

Thanks your valuable review

Cons: Non 100% vegan

Delicious

The food took just a few minutes and it was very good! We asked the staff if the cheese was vegan, because we read in the reviews on happy cow that many people thought it wasn't. They told us that it is and now that we tried it we are sure that it is! It didn't look or taste like real cheese but it was delicious, also the falafel were very good.

Tasty but also vegan doubts??

We really did enjoy our food here. We ordered the korma with a garlic naan and the quesadilla. We were informed by the staff that it was all vegan, but like other reviews on here I’m not totally convinced. Either the cheese is not vegan or these guys are making the most realistic vegan cheese on the planet. It smells, stretches, and tastes in all the ways I remember cheddar does. Would love to know what it’s made out of. Maybe publishing some of the ingredients could help relieve some of the doubt by questioning vegans. The service probably needs improvement. The korma came out a good 15-20 minutes before the naan and the quesadillas so my girlfriend got stuck with watching me eat. Food is good though, I would come back (but maybe avoid the cheese to be safe)
