Chilaquiles was my fav! - Edit
So many options that can be made vegan! Nice wide variety. Also, I was very confident that they fully understood what vegan foods are acceptable which gave me peace of mind. Very nice and just a gem of a local spot to visit!

Solid flavour - Edit
I had the Mexican tacos with Chipotle mushrooms. The portion was a bit small, but they were sure packed with flavour!
Read moreThe staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and what was vegan and what was gluten free.
They fry all their stuff in the same fryer, I had soft shells, so they weren't fried and thus still very vegan (and healthier)!
I'd go back for sure. Think I'd need two orders of tacos though!

Delicious burritos - Edit
I've been to this place several times, usually after long bike rides before catching Metro North. They have well advertised vegan options including 5 different vegan proteins. I love the soy al pastor in Jenny's Burrito. The prices look high until you see the portions—they are massive. The food tastes really fresh. You can call ahead to place an order to go (for eating on the train, for example). Major downside is that they don't have vegan sour cream or cheese, so the burritos feel a little incomplete in that sense, but it also makes them more healthy.

Deserves 5 stars - Edit
I miss easily being able to order at a Mexican restaurant and this hit the spot. Delicious food and staff even asked if I was vegan to make sure that the food was prepared and served appropriately. Lots of options and many things can be made vegan. I had the soy Al pastor tacos with rice and black beans.

A bunch of vegan options - Edit
They had multiple vegan options including tacos with soy chorizo! And the vegan options were actually part of the taco Tuesday special and didn't cost anything more than the usual tacos.

Best Vegan Mexican anywhere! - Edit
From west coast to the east coast, even Chicago which often has the best Mexican, this is the best Mexican I’ve found with Vegan options.
Read moreI ordered the Soy Al Pastor tacos and added rice & black beans. It was probably the tastiest vegan meal I’ve had in a long time. So tender, juicy & flavorful. The green & red sauce they bring you initially with chips is to die for. Green one is my favorite.
Wide selection of Mexican sodas. Great place for vegans, vegetarians & meat eaters to go to together. Something for everyone.
Staff was SO NICE!!!
Inside is festive and colorful.
We choose to eat outside. They have a lovely patio area with murals & decor.
Incredible dining experience. Will absolutely come back when I’m in town. Would definitely travel just to come here.
The food my daughter ordered (not vegan) look fabulous. She really enjoyed it!
Never saw multiple plant based options at a truly authentic Mexican eatery. Do yourself a favor and get here!

Authentic, spicy vegan Mexican dish options - Edit
This brightly colored old restaurant in the historic Union St. district of Poughkeepsie features an unmistakable large "Vegan Options" mention in one of the windows, leading me to wonder if it would be an interesting find.
Read moreMany fillings for items include meat, cheese, or queso fresco. The clearly marked vegan possibilities to my mind included a section with two burritos and the taco section. Other sections did not mention veg subs. I ordered 3 tacos, then one of the burritos, Gaby's Burrito. The 3-taco plate has to be made with all the same filling. Being a vegan, I chose spinach and mushroom, forgoing for example the fajita veggies option.
One could elect soft or hard tortillas for the 3-taco plate. The three tacos each came wrapped in two soft corn tortillas. The menu promised cilantro, wedges of lemon, and onion, along with red and green sauces. The spinach and mushroom filling lay at the center of the tortillas. I poured on the spicy sauces, put on squeezes of lime, and used my hands to eat. I had queso fresco left out by mentioning I was a vegan. It is a relaxed meal that was as good as better than street tacos I have had in restaurants in Kingston and Red Hook, for example.
I happily realized after downing my tacos, that they are largely an appetizer. I then ordered one of the two burritos in the veg burritos menu section. The burritos arrived. The earlier tacos had been fresh-veg-Mex by comparison. I did not care for the burnt-tasting brown chipotle sauce in the black beans and tofu meat sub. I could not finish my burrito. My waitress had not given me an option of other sauces. I liked the use of separate black beans instead of refried. The salad with the burrito dinner plate contained cabbage and other veggies, but was a bit wilted. The sweet, blackened plantains were sweet and were swept up in pieces at times on my fork with bites of the burrito.
The tab was not high for the two dishes combined. I avoided ordering alcoholic beverages or dessert.
I found the place authentic and wondered if there could not be more vegan filling options on the menu for, say, the steamed tamales or the enchiladas, classic Mexican dishes I like.
Near the Amtrak station in Poughkeepsie. Off-street parking in a small lot next to the building. Mexican decor. I'll be back to this Mexican-food discovery with lunch and dinner hours.

Pros: great tacos, spicy-authentic

A Local Gem! - Edit
We are fairly new to the area and never knew about this part of town/restaurant, but once we did, we went twice in a short amount of time!! I added (I think 😊) to my photos because both times my husband ordered and we got whatever the waitress suggested and said was vegan — it was all so delicious!!!

Confident dining - Edit
I feel very confident eating here, which is a big deal to me. They have “vegan options available” painted on their window, and vegan options are clearly denoted in the menu. The items are not inherently vegan, and you do need to specify that you want the “vegan tacos/burrito/chimichanga etc.”, but no need to specify “no cheese/sour cream” or ask if the refried beans are vegan. The woman who took my order knew exactly what vegan meant. You will actually need to choose your vegan meat substitute because there are OPTIONS! I got the soy chorizo, but there are many others, including mushroom chorizo.
Read moreThe menus posted on Yelp do not reflect the new vegan choices, so call ahead or pick up a paper menu at the restaurant.
The food was EXCELLENT, came with complimentary chips and salsa, and it paired nicely with the watermelon agua fresca I ordered. (And, I got to keep the glass jar!) The decor is very bright and sweet as well.
We’ll definitely be returning!
Pros: Vegan items clearly marked , LOTS of vegan meat alternatives , Staff clearly understand veganism
