Traditional vegan Mexican options, hooray!

Joe's Deli is already a staple in Los Barriles. They carry import items and some vegan products for when you don't have time to go all the way to La Paz or Los Barriles to pick them up. But we love the addition of El Antojo Sabores de Mexico, a take-out & delivery restaurant in the back of the store serving traditional Mexican food.

While they do serve meat, there are a few vegetarian and vegan options. I'll post a photo of the menu. The rice, beans, salsa, and guacamole are all vegan. Their flour and corn tortillas made in house are vegan.

We got the quesadillas which are almost more like empanadas. They are folded and pinched closed. The fillings we tried were the Ejotes en salsa (green beans in red sauce) and they made us the Rajas poblanas (poblano peppers in a white sauce) vegan as well. Delicious! We got the full meal so had the rice and beans too.

Joe is often there and can answer any questions you have about the ingredients, in Spanish or English.

We can't wait to try some of the other vegan options!

Pros: authentic local cuisine, but vegan, friendly helpful staff

Cons: bring patience, your food is cooked to order
