the only thing that stinks worse than the toilets is the attitude...and the food - Edit
Booked our table 4 weeks in advance for my wife's birthday.
Read moreAfter arrival on time at 1900 we were seated and served starters within 20-25 minutes, great start.... however after that we were left waiting and waiting...when my salmon main finally arrived after nearly 2 hours (20.47) it was over cooked, congealed and tepid. Clearly the food had been siting for a very long time, completely dried out and actually hard on top. Sauce swimming with grease and fish juice.
Customers who had been seated up to an hour later than us were also receiving their orders before us. not cool
When the waiter was told the wait time was too long he became emotional and physically threatening. Standing over me whilst threatening to take back all the food, as if giving me an ultimatum like a scolded child would somehow correct the poor standard of service he was providing. I asked him several times to lower his voice and stop causing a scene to which he boomed " I'm not causing a scene" ..at this point everyone in the restaurant was looking at us, he was SO loud ... literally everyone, so embarrassing.
the toilets smell bad...basically pub toilets that haven't been cleaned in a while... food stinks, attitude stinks, toilets stink.
Pros: good atmosphere
Cons: terrible food, terrible wait times, rude and unprofessional staff

Einstein is een leuk café op een mooie locatie. Het is een begrip in Leiden. Het personeel is vriendelijk en het is binnen erg gezellig.

A beautiful terrace and place for drinks or a quick summer meal. Not many vegan options on the menu though. Staff is always nice here.

Although they do have vegan options, I find the selection a bit meagre. The rest is rock-hard meat. I ended up eating some chips and onion rings. Ok but disappointing. I would only go there again if I am with friends who insist on eating meat and I am the only vegan and that is probably never. Recommending vegans to eat there will never occur to me.

Nice place but not very vegan friendly - Edit
The chickpea burger is terrible. Didn't try the vegetable balls. There are other options on the menu which could easily be vegan but are not marked as such, like the garlic mushrooms. The staff wasn't sure though.

Only 2 veggie options. I had the burger which was terrible. It had no bite whatsoever, as if I had mashed peas in a bun.
