Delicious food and comfortable atmosphere

I was quite pleasantly surprised at this top floor corner restaurant. I brought my 3 year old and I was relieved to see that there was a toy box full of toys. We had 2 of the daily specials and asked for them to be vegan. One was an indian dish with tofu and basmati rice. The other dish was quesadillas with tofu, rice, and beans. Both of our dishes came with a salad. The food was delicious. The staff spoke english very well. I also had a very yummy and creamy soyaccino. There is also a small section of the restaurant for selling organic items like tea, chocolates, and pantry staples. I will definitely be visiting many more times.

Pros: kid-friendly, excellent food, daily special

Cons: a little bit pricey , smaller space, closed at night time

Won't go there again

I ate at this place once. There was one vegan option. It didn't taste good at all. I'm not going to eat there again.

Cons: only one vegan option, food not good, atmosphere

The only option you got...

... but it is not bad. Vegan options are limited, but available. The place has a bit of a sect feeling, but it is not oppressive. The opening hours are what kept me for a long time from visiting this place -- it is not open in the evening.

Pros: only vegan food option around, nice, healthy food, good location

Cons: opening hours limited, sect feeling, limited vegan options

good, healthy food, plenty of vegan options

The menu seems to have been updated, and there are now (as of December, 2011) plenty of vegan options available at Effulgence. Also, there is a daily special every day that is vegan, and staff is helpful about veganizing non-vegan menu items.

The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food is good. Not fancy, but healthy, delicious, with a home-cooked feel. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The prices seem a bit high (especially since you need to order more than one menu item for a full meal), but the food is high quality.

Pros: delicious, healthy, nice staff

Cons: atmosphere, price

Good, but better for non-vegans

Cute restaurant with a pretty big menu. Some of the items that can be made vegan, like the Mexican ones, look like they would be pretty plain without the cheese. The selection of already vegan items is pretty small. The daily special, which is pretty cheap, is usually not vegan, and neither is the dessert. I had the Tofu Chili and my boyfriend had the Japanese Garden. Both were good. The tofu in the chili was especially good, as was the miso sauce on the Japanese Garden. My boyfriend was still hungry afterward.

Pros: good food, reasonable prices

Cons: limited vegan selection, not filling
