CLOSED: Eden Delicacy

My wife and I ate here recently and enjoyed it very much. Perth doesn't offer up much for the Vegan diet so it felt good to eat somewhere that assured you weren't eating any animal products - or were we? Although you don't see them, Asian foods usually almost all contain animal products, even veggie soup is made with Chicken stock. Fish Sauce, Oyster Sauce, Shrimp paste - these products are used extensively and essentially are Vegetarian, but not Vegan. The only way to know they are not being used is to trust the proprieter is not trying to slip one by you. Having informed the lovely lady we were Vegan I wholeheartedly trusted my food would be as well, and I enjoyed my Laksa soup a great deal, I even liked the tofu feaux-meats that came in it and the yellow noodles that had "no egg". However, I was informed by the same lady that a "Five Spice Roll" I bought and consumed was Vegan, then when I purchased some of the product (from the freezer in the corner) I read that it contained Whey Protein. NOT Vegan. So how do I trust anything else I'm told? This could be a simple error, a misunderstanding of what "whey protein" really is, I don't know but it has affected my level of trust now that I am unlikely to return.
If you're Vegetarian, this place has some awesomely delicious food. If you're vegan, it's up to you to decide...

A great place run by happy women. A selection of simple pre-cooked food (mostly asian) and a good selection of pies and other snack foods (try the '5 spice' rolls).

well, maybe it's just me but my tummy start acting up after I ate their buffet....

We had lunch at Eden Delicacy for the first time last month while holidaying in Perth. We were a bit hesitant to go there because of the Happy Cow rating "Not 100% Vegetarian".

The friendly owner assured us though that all their food is vegetarian, and most of it actually vegan.

We tried all the different Asian style dishes from the hot food counter and everything was yummy.

So if you are in Fremantle and looking for a quick lunch give Eden a try.

Previously wrote the "Pretty damn good..." review below. But as a repeat visitor, this place is still the pick of my places to eat in Fremantle two years on.
Can confirm that food here is 100% vegetarian.

Have been here for lunch several times, bought many fake meats and have come to get take away at the days end at reduced prices. Curries are wonderful. Lovely staff and nice looking sweets that I have yet to try! Conveniently located in Freo!

This is definately the place to go for a quick nutritious meal dine in, or take away.The service is efficient and friendly, the home made spinach pies are to die for! Every lunchtime there is a luncheon combination special offered......a selection of different vegetarian dishes such as satay tofu, fake meat dishes such as curry fish, sweet and sour chicken, fried seaweed roll, curry puffs, home made veg burgers, toasted sandwhiches. Eden specialise in Eastern and Western Vegetarian Food and also sell wholesale frozen vegetarian food which you can buy and cook yourself. Hmmm i have not come accross any meats apart from vegetarian mock meats etc......maybe in the sushi??? The prices here are very very reasonable, which makes it affordable for everyone, including students and those on a tight budget.
