cool experience and good healthy food - Edit

I didn't realize eatsa is completely automated before coming. It's really cool to order on an iPad and get your food out from a cubby. But I still like the human element of food service, maybe this is a better solution for office workers. Food was quite good too, big proportion and reasonable price. All cold meals though

Cool concept - Edit

The concept of this carry out restaurant is pretty cool. Outside of the restaurant are iPads where you order your food. Pick up is inside where there is an electronic message board that scrolls orderer's names and tells you which cubbie your food is arriving in. You can pick a favorite combination that is already conceived or you can build your own bowl. As a vegan, though, I was not able to see what was included in the favorites, either at the restaurant or on the website. And there is no one to ask. This restaurant only has employees behind the cubbies where the food comes out. I would have loved to try the Tahini Falafel bowl but I had no idea if it included feta.

I decided to build my own bowl. I got cauliflower tabouli as my base and topped it with artichoke hearts, grilled onions, falafel, baby kale, tomatoes, potatoes and pita chips. I chose the chimmichuri sauce. What is cool is that you pay by the ingredient. I can't remember exact pricing but as an example, I think tomatoes were 35 cents. The total price of my bowl was right above $10--a bargain in San Francisco and the portion was very generous.

The flavors were good, but the chimmichuri sauce did not wow me. The veggies were fresh and the bowl was arranged nicely. I will try another bowl on my next trip and report back.

Pros: Totally vegetarian--can modify to make vegan

Cons: No idea what is included in the favorite bowls

Super fast and unique - Edit

I've been there twice now and am pleased to see that they added a vegan menu recently! I had a tofu mushroom ramen and peach ice tea which were really nice. Maybe a bit on the small side. The line goes fast and your food arrives even faster. Price could be cheaper considering they're paying fewer humans and renting only a tiny space.

I recommend going on a nice day since the only seating is outside on the plaza across the street. Which is nice though, with seating pads, flower pots and the clang of cable cars going past.

All in all, my favourite lunch option in the area so far!

EDIT: After another update, they no longer have the vegan menu :( I asked the resident human who said it'll be back eventually. On the bright side, they've adjusted the prices and you pay per ingredient now.

Pros: fast, nice outdoor seating on a sunny day

Cons: smallish portions, not so nice outdoor seating on a cold day

Unbedingt dabeihaben:Kreditkarte!! Ohne geht's nicht. Barzahlung ist nicht möglich. Ich komme definitiv wieder :)

Pros: Vegane Optionen , Automatisiert, daher schnelle Abwicklung

Cons: Keine Barzahlung

Fun and Surprisingly Good - Edit

The idea is interesting, and reasonably straightforward. We had a technical issue, but the only visible employee was quite helpful and friendly. Once we enjoyed the show (it is fun - in a silly sort of way - to watch the process), we wandered off to find somewhere to eat. Unfortunately, there is no seating at this location. We did not expect a top-notch dining experience, but we came away impressed with the overall quality and taste of the food. The prices are definitely reasonable, especially when considering such a prime location. This may or may not be a place to add to your regular rotation, but it is certainly worth visiting from time to time. It's quick, tasty, and cheap.

Pros: Convenience, Price, Portion size

Cons: No seating

A fun, quick option for veg community - Edit

The "automat" style setup of Eatsa is appealing for its newness -- I think the efficiency will keep it going, especially in a world where people increasingly interact with screens vs. other people (for better or worse). You order from a digital touchscreen, step inside and wait for your name to appear onscreen, with a number. Wait for the food to appear in that numbered box, open, grab, and go. There's one human hanging around out front to field questions. The ordering interface remembers you if you swipe the same credit card on subsequent visits. No cash.

Pros: Good assortment of veg options, Pre-set bowls or customize, Reasonable cost

Cons: Veg items not labeled, or it's buried if they are, Portion size on the small side, More veg protein would be nice
