Don't understand why this place isn't better known. - Edit

I love this place. It's in the foyer of legendary Amsterdam club Melkweg, which gives it a lovely atmosphere, you can just feel all the wrecked out party vibes behind the main doors. That aside, it's the only place in Amsterdam I know to get really good, American comfort food. Burgers, Chilli, Burritos ect, all massive portions with good sides and sauces. The menu changes daily and you can check their facebook to see what's on each day. The staff are super, super friendly and really seem to want you to be happy with their place - which it's hard not to be!

They seem to be offering more vegan mains now, it used to be that there was normally only one vegan choice but the last two times I've been there's been a much wider choice. Hooray for that.

Please note though that the afternoon menu doesn't have anything vegan on it!! They normally have something left over that they can make for you but you'll have to ask for it. It's a shame actually, in the evening they're really making the effort.

Pros: Comfort food!!, Reasonable prices , Ever changing menu

MatthewMcGurn 13 Nov 2016 - Hello!
Thanks so much for your positive feedback regarding your experience with us.
It makes us so happy that you took the time to share your thoughts. We are indeed increasing our vegan choices, We take vegetarian and vegan cooking very seriously, using a completely different side of the kitchen to prepare and serve. A lot of our staff are also vegan or vegetarian including one of the chefs. Please feel free to suggest vegan dishes that you think suit our concept of healthy home cooking. We pride ourselves on working together with our customers to provide that taste of home!

Good food on closing day - Edit

We had to have a quick dinner before the Flag show at Melkweg, yesterday.
We got the menu and chose (I had the vegan burger, my bf the mozza salad NV and our friends the quiches NV) and got our meal prettu quickly.
It looked amazing and low and behold, it tasted amazing too. The bread on the burger was delicious. The side salad crispy, fresh ans flavoursome. The 'yoghurt'-garlic sauce soothing and the potatoes crispy. We gulfed it all down, because we were in a hurry AND because it was so comforting. The lady of the house came to apologize, because the menu was smaller than usual, because it was the last day before the closed for renovations. We lookad at her bewildered, thinking 'what are you apologizing for woman! This is heaven!'
So I guess when they're not closing up, there's even more choice and variety. Can't wait! This is my fav spot for pre-Melkweg-parties!

Pros: Extremely friendly, Great, comforting food

Cons: Not in my hometown. :)

MatthewMcGurn 13 Nov 2016 - Thanks a million for your positive review!
We are so please that you liked the vegan burger. Recently we have been adding more vegan options to our menu. Almost always we will have a hearty vegan burger and we love to play with the flavours. There's so much to explore with vegan and vegetarian cooking. Couple of weeks ago we had a Asian mango, tamarind, black bean and chutney burger. I think the staff ate most of them but the few that we managed to save for customers went down a treat.
Whats your favourite vegan burger?
Thanks again for the review.

Delicious - Edit

We had a delicious meal here, with a great atmosphere - we had vegan burritos that were really well cooked with yummy roasties. They change the menu every day but always have a vegan option, clearly cooked by a chef who knows what he or she is doing!

Pros: Delicious, Inclusive, Vegan friendly

Cons: Only one option but was great, Other options not vegan
