I appreciate their honesty😇 - Edit
This is a charming Chinese restaurant with friendly servers. Nothing on the menu is listed as vegan. They do have a page with vegetable items and tofu items, but they do not explicitly say that they are prepared with allnon-vegan ingredients.
Read moreWhen I asked the friendly waiter specifically about the food preparation, he confessed that it is not easy to avoid fish sauce in their offerings, and suggested that I might instead go to another restaurant if I wanted vegan/vegetarian food , so I did so.
The best I can say is that if this place were not so busy, perhaps they might be able to adjust their food to avoid fish sauce, but at busy dinner time, the use official sauce seemed inevitable.

Ask for it to be removed. Plenty of other options in Athens.

To craigmc, for busy restaurant like poundie said it’s very hard for them to change their SOP, there are few Vietnam or Thai restaurant in New York is the same as well, they refuse to make their papaya salad by simply removed the fish sauce because they can’t avoid the cross contamination so they just simply ask you eat in another restaurant , it is a lot more thoughtful, responsible, and mature behavior, because there were cases before that for born and raised vegan consume cross contaminated meal and passed away later on because of the meal, so they are actually very responsible by telling the truth and they know that they are not hundred percent vegan restaurant and they know that they can’t handle the transformation so they simply telling you the truth. Those people deserved respect, because they understand the karma they are going to carry into their next life but they do their best with their current situation.

Peanut butter tofu - Edit
I had the Tofu Iron Pot dish. It's soft tofu in sizzling hot peanut butter sauce, and it's delicious. Ask for some spicy sauce on the side if you like it :)

Decent option in central Athens - Edit
After arriving late in the day and settling into my hotel, I went out in search of a late night (by North American standards) vegan dinner. After looking at a few menus I settled on East Pearl knowing that Asian food would be less readily available outside Athens later in my trip.
Read moreI ordered a Szechuan sour potato dish and dry fried green beans to start since I wasn't sure how big the portions would be. Instead of dry fried green beans I was brought snow peas in a sauce with garlic 😂 Not sure if the waitress misunderstood my order or they just substituted based on what was available in the kitchen. I was too hungry to argue, and it tasted fine. The potatoes were exceptional - chopped into matchsticks and really flavourful. I decided to order a tofu hotpot as well, which ended up being served in some kind of peanut sauce.
Pros: Variety of vegetarian and vegan friendly options, Open late, Central location
Cons: Didn't get my order right, Limited vegan noodle options
