Nice little cafe on the seafront

Stopped in for a dinner time bite on a cold and wet Sunday. Was surprised to find the place was open because not much else in town was. The place was empty and during our time there no other guests came in - which suited us just fine.

The place was clean enough and the ladies working were polite. The food wasnt anything special, it was standard cafe food, but what made it good for us is that there were clearly labelled vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Maybe 5-10 different options which is more than most places offer.

Would definitely go back if we were in the area.

Pros: Vegan/Vegetarian options , Clean, Friendly

‘Fish’ n chips

I was pleased to find a separate vegan/vegetarian section in the menu. There were a few options. I had ‘fish’, chips and peas. It was a smallish portion, just perfect for lunch with a pot of tea. Unfortunately nothing sweet for the vegans. Friendly staff. Spacious interior. Lovely setting in the park. Free parking nearby.

Pros: Separate vegan/veg menu page, Tasty ‘fish’

Limited vegan options

Three options on menu but in reality only 1 1/2. The vegan fish and chips were off. The vegan burger didn’t come with a bread roll/cob as that wasn’t vegan so they served it with a scone. The scone on both meals was heavy and dry. The sausage, with onion gravy, was burnt.
The burger was just a large falafel and that was also burnt, the chips tasted of chip oil.

Disappointing portion

A few vegan options available but no vegan menu as such.
I ordered the vegan curry which was pretty basic. Tasted ok but literally had 8 small broccoli florets served on a mountain of white rice.

My friend took the lentil chili bean dish which looked much nicer and much better veg to rice ratio.

They also had a vegan soup option and offered vegan cheese and a vegan burger.

excellent vegan menu

I called in today for the first time, to try the new vegan brunch menu which launched this morning. I had a lovely warm welcome from the staff. I choose the puy lentil and bean chilli with garlic bread. It was yum!!! And just the right level of spiciness on a freezing cold day.

The restaurant was full when I left at 115pm so I recommend booking.

Pros: several options on the vegan menu, soya milk available

Cons: sadly no vegan cakes today
