Maybe more like a 3.5

I got the vegan scramble and it was good and I was grateful it had beans! Just wish there were more than 2 vegan options on the menu. But at least there were 2 clearly marked vegan options so not having to modify something on the menu when it’s early and you’re not in the mood lol. Also, no vegan butter so toast comes dry - which I don’t mind but I know someone people would. Service was prompt and pleasant and we sat outside since inside was kind of noisy on a Sunday morning.

Vegan Breakfast Burrito 💗

The breakfast menu has two explicitly vegan options and a number of options that can be modified.

Had an iced soy milk latte and the vegan breakfast burrito. Burrito had a great balance of flavor (added some additional hot sauce for extra spice). My only complaint was the guac scooped on top - would have loved it INSIDE and it was a mess trying to add it in because the wrapping of the burrito was a bit loose.

Very filling - saving half for later.

Vegan Burrito

They have 2 marked vegan items. The vegan burrito was pretty good. Lots of veg, hash browns and some black beans. I enjoyed it. Coffee good too, vegan milks available. I’d go back again😄

Good Intentions, Poor Execution for Vegans

I was excited to see two vegan (by default) options on the menu at Driftwood Cafe—a rare treat in this area. Sadly, the experience left me questioning their understanding of what “vegan” means.

Strike 1: The dry toast that came with the Vegan Hash was served with butter. The server apologized and replaced it with dry toast as ordered.

Strike 2 (and more serious): While eating the Vegan Hash, I found a piece of chicken in the dish. I stopped eating immediately and let the server know when he returned with the corrected toast. I opted to skip the rest of the plate and just had the toast and fruit.

The staff was kind and removed the dish from my bill, which I appreciated. However, serving meat in a dish labeled vegan is a major issue—especially for those of us relying on clear labeling for ethical or health reasons.

Vegan and vegetarian diners, take caution: Based on my experience, I would not feel confident that the kitchen fully understands or safely handles vegan meals at this time. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make improvements moving forward.

good quality, friendly service

The food was good. Several vegan and vegetarian options. The service was great and they really won me over with the friendly and no pressure atmosphere.

Pros: veg options, service, fresh veggies

Cons: small sandwich size

Great burrito and drinks

Got a great breakfast burrito and great drinks. The Bloody Mary is amazing! And I got an oat milk vanilla latte. Will definitely be coming back

Easily able to accommodate

I got a vegan burrito and added a beyond patty for extra protein. I wish I’d come in here sooner! They accommodate everyone. I will be back. #Veganuary

Will work in a pinch

This establishment has basically one vegan option in two forms. It would be nice is they added tofu or more beans as an option. They did have multiple non-dairy milk alternatives.

Pros: Non-dairy milk available

Cons: Serves meat, dairy and eggs, Limited vegan options , Not filling/satisfying

Healthy but limited options

Driftwood has a couple vegan breakfast options, including a burrito and a scramble. They use tons of veggies and the guac is great, but like a previous reviewer stated, the flavor is lacking overall. I think there are better options nearby that are on par with the number of options.

Driftwood Cafe Review

It was clean and there was a good noise level. The food took longer than expected. Fewer vegan options and my Vegan scramble was not very flavorful.

Pros: Clean space, Not too noisy

Cons: Not very flavorful, Food took a while , Few vegan options

Nice spot

We split the vegan burrito and ordered mimosas. The burrito was absolutely fantastic! Tons of veggies, a generous size, and super delicious.

Decent food, but not much variety

They have two vegan options: a Veggie Scramble and a Veggie Burrito. They are both pretty similar, just with or without the tortilla. Neither option is bad, but not fantastic either. The toast, jelly, and fruit are pretty good.

Just okay

It's cool that they have some vegan options, but it's basically just one option and it was just okay.

Not bad

We ordered their vegan veggie scram and burrito. Which is pretty much the same thing. Taste good but was lacking flavor. Great location though!

Pros: clearly labeled , Great location , Decent prices

Cons: Lack of seasoning

Excellent option

The food was great! I ordered the Vegan Scram. It was tasty and filling with fruit and toast, I "buttered" with guacamole. My husband ordered the Vegan Burrito and he described it as amazing. We would definitely eat here again.

great option for vegan breakfast

A few vegan options on the menu for breakfast. I ordered the tofu scramble it was nice. The portion was large and came with toast and fruit. My husband ordered the tofu burrito which was also a good size and tasted good. I would go back as options are limited in tahoe for vegan breakfast and this was the best we had in tahoe.

Pros: large portions, good value for money , nice location

Cons: not many vegan options

Limited but Good Vegan Options

I had lunch here today. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but the breakfast menu is available all day. I didn't ask whether the same was true for the lunch menu. I ordered the Vegan Burrito and it was delicious! I'll definitely come back.

Pros: Really close to the tourist area

Cons: not as many vegan options as I would have liked

Keep Tahoe Tasty

The best vegan breakfast option in town: hashbrowns, black beans & veggie scramble with 2 slices of dry toast & fruit. If you're feeling fancy add some avocado. They also have Tahoe Heat hot sauce & Alpen Sierra coffee! I love sitting in the little booths or the counter. Just be prepared to wait for a half hour or so on busy days -- it's well worth it!

A nice restaurant !

A busy café where you will find friendly and helpful staff as well as a few vegan and vegetarian options for a good price (as well as very good coffee that is refillable at will).
I personally ordered the vegan burrito (rice, black bean, guacamole, sprouts, onions, mushrooms, potatoe, etc...) which was very tasty and filling.

The prices are very reasonable : for free people we paid 40 dollars.

Driftwood Cafe

Driftwood Cafe is conveniently located within walking distance of the Heavenly Ski Resort. They had many vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. The veggie sandwich was really a hit for me and I really enjoyed the marinated vegetables, it was good overall. I'd go again during my next trip to Lake Tahoe.
