a culinary lighthouse in Husum - Edit
It's a traditional (historical actually) restaurant in a rustic yet beautiful location just beneath the inner port of Husum.
Read moreI knew the Dragseth from my omnivore times (>8 years ago) and, by coincidence rather, had taken notice of vegan options in their current menu. Since Husum is full of non-vegan, tourist trap restaurants, that alone is remarkable...
So we went there and were greeted friendly, even after being identified as herbivores. Two dishes are on the menu steadily (nut roast and spinach dumplings), now in autumn there is an extra pumpkin menu with one vegan dish, so we shared that as a starter.
To put it short, I have rarely eaten better. Every bite of those three was the perfect composure of vegan culinary finesse and the umami richness of 'Hausmacherkost'.
I did bathe in the roast jus and lentil salad, and would be excited to get to know about the roast recipe, but they wouldn't tell me.
Maybe next time...
note: for food quality, they deserve 5 stars easily. If you're around, and are tired of fishy tourist spots, be sure to have a table at Dragseth's.
