Hot sandwich - Edit
Had the Pastrami Ruben and Nori Tofu sandwich. Can highly recommend both. Served on different types of the freshest bread that was toasted to perfection. The flavours and textures on both were exceptional!

Don’t be put off by the fancy menu - this place is great - Edit
I’ve checked out this place for years. Every time I go to Folkestone, I always stop in and check the menu. I always turn away because I don’t fancy anything on the menu. The descriptions are so posh, I actually don’t know what this dish is and that kind of puts me off.
Read moreBut tonight I just bite the bullet. I didn’t fancy anything anywhere so I just thought I’d just go in and see what the staff recommended. They recommended something I just couldn’t comprehend so I stuck to a safe mushroom roti dish and it really didn’t disappoint.
I ordered from the evening menu and had the sweetcorn and seaweed chowder with fig cornbread to start followed by the Masala Oyster Mushroom Salad Roti. Both dishes were so good that I wish I had ordered more. For the evening menu, a small dish and a big dish was enough if you are not too hungry (my appetite been up and down lately) but for people with big appetite you might need third dish.
Only criticism I have is I felt the fig cornbread didn’t go very well with the sweet corn chowder (don’t put the sweet bread into the soup) but separately they were delicious.
****updated - went back the next day for lunch and the customer service was great. They remembered me from the day before (without prompting) and gave me a royal service. I ordered the Phish Goujon Ciabatta and a side dish of the Beetroot Carpaccio. Both great dishes. If you love beetroot, the Carpaccio is a must ☺️
****updated 29th August 2021 - went for Sunday lunch and has the Pea Meat Ballantine and the Cinnamon and Fruit french toast for dessert. Both great dishes, The Ballantine is quite light but just filling enough. The french toast a lovely autumnal taste and one to go for if you love cinnamon. It’s very filling so together with the Ballantine, they make a good combo 😋

Lovely breakfast - Edit
Came here with a group of vegan runners after parkrun for breakfast. The staff weee really accommodating, taking our orders in advance so we didn’t have to wait long. Staff were friendly and we were all able to sit outside. The food was delicious- beautifully presented as well as tasty and I loved the bacon they had! I need to go back to test the lunch/dinner menu!! Very good.

Amazing - Edit
Amazing vegan food and drink options. Staff were lovely. We went when they were about to change their menu over so they advised there would be limited options but there was still lots of choice.

Fabulous Evening with so much delicious food on offer - Edit
Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Service was great. Friendly helpful waitress gave us guidance to ensure we had ordered enough food and wouldn’t be left hungry!!
Read moreWe so weren’t!! Pudding topped off a great evening. Loved it all. Price was spot on for the delicious food served up.
They miscalculated our bill and undercharged us!!! We’d had such a great foodie evening that we couldn’t let that go unnoticed. It wasn’t fair on such a great little venue. Paid in full plus tip and well worth every penny.
Pros: Totally plant based 👍🏻👍🏻, Puddings a plenty! , Tasty veg cooked perfectly
Cons: Loos outside off premises, Wine by the glass £7+?

Fab fun fine dining - Edit
Beautiful small plates bursting with colour and flavour cooked and served by the owners. This is a really fun place to eat, full of creativity and love, and is a really great dining experience. And all things considered is probably the best restaurant in folkestone, whatever your diet. Each dish is a work of art and the balance of flavours is amazing. Allow about £30 per head for 3 dishes and a glass of wine - it’s really not expensive for the quality of the experience. Equally you could get a couple of things and a water for about 15 quid, well worth it just to check out the vibe!

Excellent seasonal food - Edit
I'm so glad Dr Legumes finally have their own space, having enjoyed their various pop ups and supper clubs over the years. The food is as high quality as always, and it's always a pleasure to see how creative they can be with seasonal and local produce and making plants not just taste amazing but look great too. There's plenty of choice, including healthy salad-based dishes as well as tasty seitan (wheat meat) burgers. The SFS (Southern Fried Seitan) and the reubans are always winners. Definitely a "must-visit" place for vegans, vegetarians and adventurous omnivores.

Simply the best, every time! - Edit
My favourite restaurant, an absolute must if you are in the area!
Read moreThey take special care with their food, almost everything is made from scratch and sourced locally which puts the quality of the food above anything else in the area. Everything I have ever eaten here has been delicious, full of flavour and incredibly fresh.
Situated in a shipping container on Folkestone's harbour arm, they are offering a takeaway only menu at present featuring delicious burgers, toasted sandwiches, brownies, doughnuts, rice bowls, etc. Usually they develop the menu regularly and always have specials on. I strongly urge you to give it a try - there is no way you could be disappointed! I will continue to come back and support these lovely people again and again :)
Pros: Best vegan food in Kent, Beautiful fresh ingredients, high quality food
Cons: Nothing - just that they are takeaway only atm!
