Loved having all our fave vegan options on vacation. Nice selection of produce that kept us fed the whole trip. Enjoyed some new fancy chocolates and brownies that we dont see at our natural grocer on the mainland. Friendly service.

This is what vegan dreams are made of - Edit
When I visited Maui for the first time I fell in love with this place, I was so excited to come back. We’ve been in Maui for 2 weeks and we’ve been to Down to Earth more than I can count. It was a great option when we landed in Maui around 8pm and everything was closed. We got pre-made sandwiches and a few snacks. You need to try the tofu musubi! I was so grateful to have a vegan option of this Hawaiian delicacy. I also recommend buying Coconut Glens ice cream here, it’s $6 or $7 for a carton of it compared to the $8 they charge PER scoop from the truck on road to Hana! The chocolate milkshake and Nashville hot chickn sandwich from the deli were also really good!

Amazing food from deli - Edit
There were many clearly labeled vegan items for grab and go food. We decided to try out the deli and get made to order sandwiches. Everything was really good - especially the Nashville Hot Chick’n Sandwich. The grocery store itself is really nice but SO expensive. We bought a single cucumber for *gulp* $4.50. Tons of vegan specialty items but I wish they’d ditch the dairy and eggs and go completely vegan!

Heaven - Edit
Close to the airport! Like the other reviewers have said, there's a ton of vegan options here (entrees, soups, pastries, and pizza). I had some mock chicken, pad thai, curry, an amazing spinach dip, and some fried eggplant. I like that they use compostable plates (though I didn't see a compost bin) and sell a variety of vegan substitutes and eco friendly items.

AWESOME VEGAN SELECTION - Edit
Down to Earth is the store on Maui that impressed me the most with their vegan selection. The entire store is veg but certain items do contain dairy. They have a huge selection of vegan baked goods, including cookies and donuts daily. The hot bar is stocked full of things like bbq jackfruit, chicken tofu, vegan macaroni salad as well as healthy options. They also have a counter where you can order vegan wraps and burgers. Unlike Mana Foods, down to Earth has an easy parking lot with lots of open spaces, which I appreciate. Overall a great place to stop if you need snacks or groceries!

Nice little stop for groceries - Edit
There's a good variety of things to buy, a little cafe and food bar. Well rounded, a little expensive. Wouldn't recommend getting the Kale smoothie. But if you're looking to get some food shopping done and grab some lunch at the same time, going to a local organic store is always great.

Hands down the best in town - Edit
I visited pretty much all the health food stores on the island—Mana Foods, Whole Foods, Alive & Well, Hawaiian Moons—and was most impressed with this place. I primarily came for the salad bar, which is completely vegetarian and has great variety. I got food there twice and everything was delicious both times. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Wish I lived near one!

Great Veg Food, Great Selection, Healthy and Quick - Edit
If you're looking for a quick healthy veg lunch, dinner or snack, this is the place for you. They had a vast hot and salad bar buffets which were very flavorful and good value for your money. Plus most of the ingredients were organic and everything was vegetarian with no eggs. Their vegan pastries, cakes, baked goods are just absolutely to die for! We were going on a road trip to Hana and so bought a whole bunch of prepared food stuff from them and everything tasted fresh and was delicious! I wish we had a place like this in Atlanta! Their service was great too. Plus they have a large natural food grocery store where you can find everything you need under the sun! We were so grateful for this awesome place in Maui! When we went to Kauai we were disappointed that they didn't have a branch there.

Now the BEST vegan place on Maui! - Edit
Down to Earth's remodel has made it THE BEST place to eat hot vegan non-gmo food on Maui! It's near the airport, and the parking is good. You won't feel crowded, and the staff is always smiling and happy.
Read moreThe best part is the new-and-improved hot bar and salad bar. It's gorgeous, and the food is amazing! Everything's labeled Certified Organic. No guesswork about GMO's here.
They also sell everything you'd want from a well-stocked health food store.
Their produce section is the best on Maui. Always gmo-free wonderful tomatoes and papaya.
Pros: Not crowded, Delicious hot bar and salad bar, NON-GMO is clearly marked
Cons: Wish they had a 2nd location in Lahaina!

Everything is Vegetarian - Edit
I had read about this place on happycow, and had shopped here several times during my past two trips to Maui. Was here again in December 2012, and here's my Down To Earth Natural Foods Market review update.
Read moreDown to Earth Market has several locations all together on the Hawaiian islands. In Maui, there's used to be a small store in Makawao as well as one in Lahaina, but they've both closed for many years. This one is the currently the only location in Maui.
This market is a moderate size store that's very well stocked with everything one needs. Food, snacks, supplements, toiletries, natural shampoos, etc. There is a great fresh produce area as well as a large bulk food section. The prices, however, are slightly more expensive than stores on mainland US, but this is Maui. Things are generally more expensive in Maui, especially the good stuff.
I feel good about shopping here over Whole Foods Market that had opened down the street, because I am supporting an all vegetarian market. Please go and show your support, too!
Pros: all vegetarian, vegan friendly, well stocked

Down to Earth Natural Foods - Edit
I was quite impressed with Down to Earth, they are 100% vegetarian and carry so many things! Perhaps this is the best place for veg*ns to shop while in Maui. They even have a deli where you can get a sandwich or grab some items off of the hot bar if you're on the go. The stuff I had from the hot bar was good.
