A wonderful surprise off the beaten path

We had a very, very delicious meal of Spring (pickled) Okayama vegetables, soup, fried tofu, and rice. It was the culinary highlight of my four-city trip to Japan. We felt shy about the language barrier and the small intimate setting, but it was worth overcoming that because the food was unique, fresh, and delicious. I’m a full -grown adult who loves vegetables and has been a vegan for ages, but this meal contained veggies I’m pretty sure I’ve never had before. After we requested a vegan meal, the owner even asked about allergies.
Everything is in Japanese at this restaurant. If you don’t speak Japanese, make sure you arrive with grace, friendliness, a person who can engage in some basic Japanese communication, and maybe a translation app.
It’s not all vegan, but you wouldn’t know that from the quality of the vegan meal. I could only tell it wasn’t all vegan because there was a photo book about the cafe and a couple of the pics had an egg in them.

Pros: Friendly , Delicious & innovative , Unexpected

Cons: Not for people who are in a rush, Not a bad thing- but Japanese is needed
