We asked about vegan options and the server grabbed the cook/owner who came out to talk to us. He was super nice and offered to make a meal special for us. It came with 3 different vegan curries (spinach, garlic, and soy meat), rice, and chapati. All 3 curries were fantastic. My spice sensitive wife had trouble with the soy meat curry, but the other two were mild enough for her. The owner came and chatted with us for a bit while we ate and told us his story. Really nice guy who puts a lot of love into his cooking.

The restaurant has an interesting layout, with a number of separate dining areas. This was quite nice as we ended up effectively having a private dining room for our meal.
Read moreThere is one vegan curry on the menu, but they can also make the veg thali vegan by replacing the raita. Our thali had a Saag (spinach/greens), dal, basmati rice, green chili pickle, onion/cucumber salad, basmati rice and a roti. The roti was freshly made and still puffed from the flame when it arrived at the table. The spice level was mild-medium for us, with chili powder available on the table for extra heat.
Everything was delicious and wouldn't hesitate to go back if we were in the area again. The lady who served us and the chef were both super nice.

The couple that own this restaurant were some of the nicest people we met on our Japan trip. Very reasonably priced food and always a delicious vegan option available. We only hope we can visit for a fourth time one day!

The curry was fantastic and made authentically by an Indian cook. He was very kind and chatted with us about how he came to run the restaurant. There was only one vegan option, so I couldn't see myself coming here super often. Additionally, the portion wasn't quite enough to match the price, in my opinion. Still absolutely recommend this place.

Love this place. The couple that run it are so friendly. They do one vegan option- vegan curry with chapati and rice. I guess what it is depends on the day, I got a delicious lentil curry and then could add some spicy pickle to it to give it a bit of kick. Small place, small menu but big flavours😄price was 780 and they gave me a free little pudding (vegetarian not vegan)

I have been touring Japan as a musician and very much doubted I would find anywhere vegan before my show in Nagano. The couple who own this place are so lovely, worldly and fluent in English. The man imparted loads of wisdom about the curry and culture and clearly cared a lot about the craft. We had a beautiful simple bean green curry but it was so filling and delicious especially with a side of pickles and added special spice mix and handmade hot chapati. The place is tiny! But super cosy and one of a kind!

Located in an outdoor food court, this is one of the most unusual restaurants I've visited. Run by a lovely couple (Indian and Japanese), service is friendly and efficient. My curry was delicious and was served with a freshly made chapatti. Highly recommended!

Seriously the best experience I’ve had in Japan. Owned and run by a beautiful husband and wife (and their young son) who cook everything from scratch. The vegan curry was sensational and they made me a vegan chai... even had a traditional sweet which was vegan. Even if you don’t come to Matsumoto for anything else, come to support this wonderful family and enjoy this amazing food. I’ll be there again tomorrow night... seriously!

Read moreWe visited twice while in Matsumoto and each time the food was delicious (we had the daily vegan curry and the vegan chai). The curry comes with rice, a papadum and a freshly made chapati. All delicious!
The owner is really lovely, speaks excellent English and was very friendly and full of useful information about the area.
Also - the menu is in Japanese and English.

Felt lucky to found the place open when we got to Matsumoto late into a rainy night. Their menu is small and all curry options. There is just one vegan option but it's very good and well-worth it! It's a home-cooked recipe so it has a very unique taste. The owner who is also the cook is very friendly who seemed like he is always up for a chat :)

Delcious Curry and Amazing Service - Edit
We had a super yummy curry with rice, a wheat flour chapati and a papadam. The couple the owned the place were really friendly and we were quite happy to have a conversation with them. They even offered seconds if we were hungry but it was really filling and enjoyable. This is must if you're a vegan travelling to Matsumoto:)
