Doo Lee Man

I tend to prefer to go to strictly vegan places but it is not always easy - in this place, the staff doens't speak English but some friends ordered with me in Cantonese.
I got a noodle soup with vegetables. And what a nice surprise ! The bowl was really big and the (vegan) soup very tasty. It was more than enough for a meal and the waitress was friendly.
It was also incredibly cheap (32HKD).
If you're vegan and can't speak Cantonese, try to take your vegan passport to let them read what you it and don't.

Doo Lee Man is currently the only veggie restaurant that's open for dinner in Tai Po that I know of. There were quite a fair number of options available on the menu, but do note that the staff doesn't speak English. I ordered with a friend so we could each try a couple things and was a bit let down. Both dishes were coated in sauce to the point that I felt I was eating more sauce than vegetable. Was pretty tasty though, and due to the restaurant being my only evening option in Tai Po I'll probably eat again! Decent priced too.

I grabbed a take away for 3 people for lunch here yesterday. The food was great and the guy serving was very nice.

An extensive list of Chinese vegetarian food, including a lot of mock meat dishes. Food is healthy and on the whole pretty good -- the curry potatoes and steak is a perennial favourite of mine. The staff are friendly and efficient, but don't speak English. However they do have an (outdated) English menu, and also a partial picture menu.

The lunch/dinner sets are highly recommended -- portions are reasonable, they come with a bowl or rice and a drink or a soup, and are really low priced at 28 HKD. You can also mix-and-match -- try half each of two different sets for the same price.

It's usually quite busy, so you'll probably have to share a table with other customers. But thus far I've never had to wait to be seated.
