Rude service, but good crispy tofu. - Edit
The place is really hidden away and hard to find, the signage is really bad. I went in and asked for a menu, was rudely told I was not supposed to be in there, and that there was a menu on the door. There was no menu on the door, just a scan code to the url for a menu, and you must have a credit card to order, they do not seem to take cash. Without a smart cellphone and good internet connection and code scan app and credit card and square payment we would have starved. I was unhappy and would have turned around and gone directly home, but my son was very hungry. The app said the food would be ready in 30 minutes but they texted us in only 15 and it was ready. The mac n cheese and bbq sauce were slightly off, the fries were better than innout, the fried tofu was excellent, crispy, crunchy and good texture and adhesion and flavor. You can tell you are eaking breaded firm tofu but I liked it. It is not cheap, 4 pieces for $25, but the portions are generous and 4 pieces left 2 hungry adults content, and the fried breading was very tasty. The mexican market next door has tecate or jaritos if desired and they take cash.

Cons: Hard to find, Rude staff dont welcome customers, You MUST order online, no physical menu no cash

Great food, new location was confusing - Edit
The food from here is awesome but finding where to pick it up was strange and confusing. I hope the new location isn’t permanent & I hope this business thrives. They do vegan fried chicken well.

BUSSIN BUSSIN - Edit
If you’ve ever been to Raising Cane’s, this is vegan raising canes but better. They got hot chicken, Mac n cheese, and a bunch of more stuff that they don’t have at Canes. Just do yourself a favor and check the bag for the sauces bc I’ve ordered extra sauce before that was not in the bag

The gold standard for vegan fried chicken! - Edit
As a former carnivore - I've struggled finding vegan chicken that resembled KFC or Popeyes. I finally got my hands on DBC and have been a loyal and proud customer of theirs since 😍. The owner and chefs are so humble and kind and are always warm and welcoming. This is a big big win for vegan food that is homely and supremely delicious. My whole family is obsessed!

Super disappointed - Edit
I have been wanting to try this place for MONTHS. They finally opened their new ghost kitchen in San José and I was one of the first to order and try it out.
Read moreI placed my order as soon as it opened and was told it was a 40 minute wait. Dang. Okay. I was already there so I just had to wait. When it was time to get my food, I was told it would be another half hour. Finally got my food about 1 hr and 15 min after ordering. The staff was super nice and friendly but clearly has some kinks to work out with time management at their new place. Mind you, it was the first day so it may just be a hiccup.
Finally got my food. Tried the garlic bread first. WOW. That has to be the best garlic bread I’ve ever eaten. So flavorful and the bread was so soft.
Onto the Mac and cheese. It was alright. I would give it a 6/10. The flavor wasn’t bad- just needed salt or some extra seasoning. The noodles broke apart very easily and there was weird clumps of cheese just mixed in but again the flavor wasn’t bad.
Then the fries. Pretty solid. I have nothing bad to say about them!
Onto the star of the show-the chicken. Wow. I was so excited for this vegan canes experience and it totally fell flat. The chicken was a tough consistency and extremely bland. I ordered the 4 piece and only got through 1 1/2 before I had to stop. No flavor at all and extremely bland. Just a clump of seitan and soy mixed together. Reminded me of the gardein chicken strips. The house sauce it came with was also very bland and desperately needed salt. I was so disappointed. I spent over $40 to eat a cup of max and cheese, a garlic bread slice, a few fries and 1 1/2 bland chicken tenders.
I’m wondering if this was a first day opening fluke because this place had so many good reviews, but it was so expensive and so bland and flavorless. Was extremely disappointed. The price mixed with the flavor and time management give this place a 2 star for me. The service like I said was really nice and apologetic for the wait but definitely not worth a trip back or the money spent.

Delicious Chick’n Sandwiches - Edit
Went to the new pick up location on Peralta today. Is a ghost kitchen but staff was very friendly for pick-up. We had the Bo$$y B*tch and Side Chick and they were both delicious.

Don't be Greedy is a more fitting name - Edit
There are some restaurants that want to cash in hard on the "vegan food trend" and this establishment is a prime example of that. The cheapest meal was 18.50$ (excluding tips and taxes!!!!). And this is a food truck mind you! I've gone to sit down restaurants for much cheaper.
Read moreI go out of my way to support and amplify all vegan restaurants, but this place has abusive pricing.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Rude staff , Ridiculous price

Yikes! I know of a food truck in Boulder that does that. It's usual for us to see the exploitation of animals(which is horrific), but exploiting vegans is next level.

Best vegan chick'n - Edit
This is the best chick'n I've ever had. Tried both to Nashville hot and regular tenders.. Both had a great crisp to them and plenty of flavor. This restaurant is a food truck now so word of advice, look up where they are on FB or IG before driving.

So Delicious! - Edit
Got the Thicc Chick Tender Box Combo with bacon collard greens and Cajun fries, as well as some deep fried oreos. The chick’n was just amazing, so satisfying and the batter was crisp and perfectly seasoned. Fries were super good too. The only complaint I have, and this is more of a complaint with my own small stomach😂, is that it’s much richer than I expected and after this meal (shared with two), I felt I had eaten enough for two days! Great for a treat regardless, only an issue in that I couldn’t sample more items in one visit since it’s a bit out of the way for me.

SOUND THE ALARMS BAY AREA!! - Edit
Right when I thought I found the best vegan chikn sandwich in the Bay at another restaurant, I had to go and try Don't Be Chikn. Their crunchy breaded chikn w/ spices hit the mark 🎯on mimicking real white meat chicken (for those who are newly vegan or former meat eaters), I kid you NOT. I got their "Side Chik" lol sandwich (spicy version of "Main Chik" lol) which has lettuce, pickles, and their spicy cluk sauce on a soft-toast brioche bun. *Chef's f*ckin kiss 😗👌🏾* I also got "DBC 4pc Tenders box"...vegan version of Raising Cane's meal. Includes 4 pc tenders, coleslaw, fries, 2 toasted garlic bread and a cluk sauce. Definitely a HEFTY and FILLING meal...and again, they hit the mark 🎯 on mimicking the real thing.
Read moreLet's talk price point. When they posted a story on their IG @dontbechikn of their menu last night, I was like, "Yikes, price point up there." With that being said, portion to price ratio, portion is well BIGGER than the value...both the sandwich AND the tender box. I can't even finish the tender box after eating the sandwich...and I can eat-EAT lol due to lifting/working out. 💪🏾🐷
So enough reading the review already, if you're in Oakland or in the Bay, slide thru Don't Be Chikn for some of the BEST fried chikn you'll have!!

The impossible is possible - Edit
I never thought I’d have any Nashville hot fried chicken in my life again, but Don’t Be Chick’n has made it possible without the cruelty! It’s got a nice level of spice but isn’t overwhelmingly so. The Cajun wedges are generously seasoned and went well with the sando. And I loved the strawberries ‘n’ cream milkshake: a match made in heaven between DBC and Eclipse! Super creamy, topped with a ton of coconut whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. This place is a winner winner, chick’n dinner!

Didn't live up to the hype - Edit
I was not a fan of what we ordered. The Mac and Cheese tasted like coconut, the fried pickles were greasy and floppy, and the batter on the chicken strips was so thick that it tasted like raw seitan inside. The only thing we liked were the Texas toast and fries.

The sandwiches and the potato wedges are to-die-for! I would compare it to Lettuce Feast in LA.
