Try before the Goodbye - Edit
This place has been on my try-list for a couple of months now. I saw a post that they were closing at the end of the month, so I rushed to make a reservation. My friend and I enjoyed everything we ordered. I'm sad they Sherman Oaks location is closing.

Dessert Shined the Most - Edit
The restaurant was booked for our first try, so made reservations. Great service and good pizza but wasn’t anything super special. The cast iron cookie was a highlight for dessert though!

Been rocking with them since they touched down in LA - Edit
Donna Jean Sherman Oaks was their second location after San Diego—and I’ve been rooting for them since day one. This spot knows comfort. The salt-crusted potatoes? Life-changing. The Four Horsemen pizza? Creamy, herby, and unforgettable. Every time I go, I leave full and a little emotional 😂
Read moreIt’s the kind of place that understands flavor, energy, and what it means to feed people with love. If you’re in LA and still haven’t pulled up… I don’t know what to tell you.

Disappointing sister to SD gem - Edit
We have been to the Donna Jean location in San Diego and love it. So, we were visiting LA and tried the location in Sherman Oaks. It was a disappointment all around. The service was lackluster. The kitchen was slow. The food was fair. Not as tasty or well prepared as the food at the San Diego location. There are better vegan Italian restaurants in LA.

Inconsistent/disappointed - Edit
When it’s good it’s good. It’s just too inconsistent. Service can be excruciatingly slow. I just picked up a pizza to eat at home and it barely had any cheese at all! Like they forgot to finish it. Salads have been hit and miss lately-too salty sometimes, too much dressy. We were coming here frequently, but not anymore. Disappointed too many times

Delicious Food + Great Service - Edit
I went to Aubrey and Nathan's party tonight at this excellent vegan Italian restaurant.
Read moreThe food server was really helpful and honest with suggestion. Considering our 15 person group, the food came out quickly. And Bot of my dishes were excellent. I started with the artichoke dip. Creamy and irresistible. The lasagna was delicious, but I shoul have ordered two portions because I had not eaten all day. Zesty sauce and made just the way a lasagna should be made. Thank you Aubrey and Nathan for asking me to attend your amazing party!

Great pizza, casual atmosphere - Edit
I’ve been wanting to try Donna Jean’s for a long time having seen it frequently on the vegan food circuit. The pizza definitely lives up to the hype! We tried the black widow, and let me tell you the fig jam with the homemade cashew ricotta was insanely good. The crust was chewy but didn’t collapse in the middle. 10/10 would definitely try more of their ‘za.
Read moreThings we didn’t like as much were the squash rigatoni carbonara (apparently a new menu item) and the fried mushrooms. The pasta sauce was too thin and lacked seasoning (salt, red pepper flakes) and texture (the dish was only pasta and mushrooms). The oyster mushrooms were alright but super oily and just tasted like fried coating. The hot sauce was drizzled on top instead of served as a dipping sauce. The menu also seemed limited.
We came here for our anniversary thinking it was an upscale resto (based on high prices!), but the ambiance is very casual. Servers were nice, but it seems understaffed as the hostess was also our server and took awhile to attend to us.
I would choose Pura Vita over DJ for a special occasion, but I’d come back for the pizza alone.
Pros: Pizza!
Cons: Bland pasta, Oily mushrooms, Too casual for prices

As soon as you step into the restaurant you feel the relaxing cool ambiance! The server was kind and engaging. The food was off the charts good. I had the Motherload tofu scramble & my friend had the Certain Shade of Green pizza. The flavors make this dinning experience special. We will be back!

Great Vegan Pizza - Edit
Went here for lunch on a weekday. There were many things that looked amazing but tried the thunderkiss 65 pizza. It was delicious. Their homemade vegan cheese is to die for. Parking is a little tricky, but we parked across the street and had a really short walk at the light so don’t let that deter you . Wish I had room to try more food, as the pizza was perfect.
