Good but not great - Edit
I had dinner here while in Quebec City for work. I’m definitely a vegan foody and have had the good fortune to eat in some of the best vegan restaurants in the world. I ordered the artichoke dip and gnocchi. Both were good but not great. The artichoke dip was made with cashews that hadn’t been soaked so the texture was gritty rather than creamy. It was also served with tortilla chips rather than the traditional bread or crostini- a very odd choice that made it come off a cheep bar food. The sauce on the gnocchi was pretty tasteless but the tofu bacon was good, which saved it. Unfortunately there was only a few pieces of the bacon sprinkled on top so it came off bland. Overall Don Vegan is more at a beer garden level than the gastro pub it is trying to be. It’s too bad - I hate giving vegan restaurants a mediocre review.

We enjoyed the lunch special: choice of Carrot Soup or Summer Salad to start. The Carrot Soup was good, but the Summer Salad blew us away with its mix of fruit and beets!
Read moreFor entrees, we had the Sausage Risotto and Tofu Noodles Stir Fry. The risotto was the star of the show - full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The stir fry had good tofu, but the noodles were a bit overcooked and bland, so I added some hot sauce.
On vacation mode, I treated myself to a La Doñarita margarita. Tasty, but I wish the glass was bigger!
Dessert was a delightful upgrade from the standard brownie to the Warm Chocolate Cake and Maple Vanilla Pudding Bar. Both were incredible and not overly sweet, with the pudding bar being our favorite!
The service was friendly and helpful, making for a wonderful dining experience in a fun setting. Highly recommend this spot in Old Quebec City!

Hip Bar Restaurant with large menu allergy friendly - Edit
Fun eclectic place in old town Quebec that has a large menu. We had the Agnolottis (Ravioli). Bibimbap, and two mocktails. They were able to work around my nightshade allergies in English (due to my poor French). Everything was wonderful! Food was great, service was excellent! Seating option indoors and outside. As a veggie I loved it and my not-veggie partner loved it too.

Outstanding Gnocchi - Edit
We had gnocchi as an entree and they were really outstanding, an easy 5/5. Unfortunately, the Thai soup and Pad Thai were a little underwhelming: the soup was not spicy, and the tofu a little too sweet and overall too bitter. Nice atmosphere!

Accueil chaleureux, mocktails délicieux (Pinã et Vito), devant notre indécision on nous a suggéré l’Antipasto qui ma foi fut remarquable en bouche. Plein de différentes saveurs, un peu de tout pour goûter, notre coup de cœur fut les DONplings que nous avons recommandé.

Second time in Quebec City and had many meals at Don Vegan. The brunch is amazing. Recommend the risotto and beet tartar. Poor man’s pudding is an amazing dessert.

We had the La Piña and Mojito mocktails, the DONplings appetizer, and the mushroom risotto and the gnocchi in cashew cream sauce mains. A delicious arugula salad came with the appetizer and mains. Café lattes and poor man’s pudding for dessert rounded out the meal. Everything was perfect, and we had to roll back to our hotel!

My partner and I spent an entire week in Quebec (and during Christmas) and Don Vegan was our go to most of the time. We went there approx. 4 times which hit our wallet a little too hard but then again it’s hard to find vegan food in Quebec. I didn’t love their brunch but everything I tried from their lunch/dinner menu was to die for.

Les serveuses ont été adorables, le cadre est intimiste et très sympa. La serveuse nous a donné des conseils pour notre première fois ici, que nous avons suivis : nous avons donc pris en entrée un antipasto pour 2 à partager, très copieux et qui nous a suffit pour le repas, comme prévu par la serveuse. On aurait peut-être aimé plus de dumplings et ravioles et moins de salade cesar (un peu basique et vite écoeurante) ou des wings de chou-fleur (qui, de même, en deviennent écœurantes vu la quantité), mais c’était très bien. Les prix sont assez chers mais c’est un très beau resto pour un date ou une occasion !
