extraordinary food in an extraordinary place - Edit

Tried the Tempeh Salad this afternoon and it was very yummy. The tempeh comes on grilled eggplants and spinach salad, hummus, etc. I guess one of the best salads I have ever eaten. 19$ is a fair price, considering you are really full afterwards. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only vegan dessert that was still there was the muffin... which was good, too... and quite big! :) so obviously quite a high demand!!
The ambience is very nice... loved that place and would definitely come again if I stayed here longer.

Pros: near the Octagon - very central , very nice place, friendly staff

Cons: unfortunately serving meat

Very tasty breakfast - Edit

I had the veggie breakfast. It is available without eggs for vegans. It was delicious although expensive.
I came last night and though it claims to be open late it stopped serving drinks at 10.30pm.

Pros: A few veggie options,

Cons: Not so good for vegans

Vegan Breakfast!!! - Edit

I absolutely love this cafe. We've been in Dunedin for 4 days now and come here everyday. Late night tea/coffee near cinema and theatre. Plus: vegan breakfast options.

The Big Vege Breakfast is vegan as listed on the menu, but you have the option to make it gluten-free or, in my case, nut-free. Just ask them to substitute tomato relish for the cashew cheese sauce and ask for no pesto. Delicious way to fuel up for a day.

Their lunch/dinner menu has vegan options, as well, but we were always elsewhere and didn't get a chance to sample it.

Great staff members. Funky decor with mismatched sofas, tables, chairs, and stuff on the walls. Live music or trivia or performance just about every night. There was a really talented guy playing piano when we were in for breakfast yesterday.

If I lived in Dunedin, this would be my second home...

Pros: Vegan options for all meals, Tasty breakfast, Great staff

Nice Vegan Dinner Options.... - Edit

We had dinner here & found some nice vegan options on the 'All day' & 'Evening' menus.(Anything marked 'V').A lively cafe with entertainment most nights (Poets, musicians, etc).Good food at moderate prices. We had 4 x dishes....all tasty & great! The Beer-battered cauliflower & aioli was a favourite! Yum!A selection of changing cabinet desserts is also offered.

Pros: 1/2 of the Menu options are Vegan., Nice central location open later for Dinner/Supper

Nice atmosphere, lots of veg options - Edit

This is a great place for a beer in the evening and they host a few events - music, quizzes, comedy etc. during the week. I've also been here for a food a couple of times and the dishes have always been nice but underwhelming. Prices are typical cafe prices, not cheap, not too expensive, and usually a few different vegan options.

Pros: Vegans have options!, Interesting food choices, Staff are great

Cons: Food good but not great, Can be hard to find a seat, Nice beer on tap
